I've just installed Mavericks OS X 10.9.1 (13B42) on:

x79-up4 motherboard
3930k Processor
XFX 280x OC Black Edition
32GB Ram

I have it booting from an old Nvidia 8400GS. The problem is, Mavericks does not recognise the 280x GPU?
It shows up as:

Type: GPU
Bus: PCIe
PCIe Lane Width: x16
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x6798
Revision ID: 0x0000

I can't work it out, I've seen other people running these cards out of the box?

Thanks.

Any help on this?

When I turn -v on, the last line I get is VM Swap Subsystem is ON.

Mavericks seems to running good now except for this graphics card issue? It is showing the graphics as 'Graphics Display' 7 MB.

Really need some help on this, it's driving me mad?

Thanks.

Hey man I'm running 10.9.1 and I don't see any drivers for that model - it may not be supported. Perhaps the updated graphics drivers in 10.9.2 support your card?

which bootloader are u using?

on 10.9.1. with that graphic card its important to configure your bootloader with: GraphicsEnabler=No

on 10.9.2. its important to activate.

here my clover config file (graphic part only) (10.9.2) (only DPs are working)

<key>Graphics</key>
<dict>
<key>FBName</key>
<string>Aji</string>

Hi, thanks for the info. I'll try Clover to see if that works.

Hi,

I tried Clover with just the 280x in and it still won't install. It just hangs with a bluetooth controller error?
I inserted you graphics configuration in the config plist but still no joy. I can't even boot into the installation with -x? It just keeps returning to Clover start screen. I am going to try Clover with the 8400GS installed as well to see if it makes any difference.

Still not working, I've tried Clover and UniBeast. There must be someone here with a Gigabyte x79 board and a 280x installed? This is a 10.9.2 install by the way.

Thanks.
