Hey guys,

I've been doing a ton of research on this site and would like some input on my setup before ordering. This Mountain Lion build will be running 24/7 as a home automation machine with the ability to serve XBMC or Plex. Low cost is important as is compatibility.

Here we go:

Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2PV mATX LGA1155 H61 DDR3 1PCI-E16 1PCI-E1 2PCI SATA2 Video Sound Motherboard
(DSDT listed)

Intel Celeron G530 Dual Core Sandy Bridge Processor 2.4GHZ LGA1155 2MB Cache 65W Retail Box
(CHEAP!!)

ASUS GeForce GT 430 700MHZ 1GB 1.6GHZ GDDR3 PCI-E DVI VGA HDMI Low Profile Video Card

Antec Basiq BP500U 500W ATX12V V2.3 80MM Quiet Fan ATX Active PFC Power Supply

Corsair XMS3 CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-27 240PIN Core i5 i7 AMD Memory Kit
(I know max output will be determined by the above Intel)

Sony Optiarc 18X DVD-ROM Black SATA OEM

Norco RPC-230 2U Rackmount Server Case Black 1X5.25 4X3.5

debatable: OCZ Agility 4 64GB 2.5IN SATA3 6GB/S Indilinx Everest 2 Solid State Disk Flash Drive SSD
or
Western Digital WD Caviar Blue 250GB SATA 6GB/S 7200RPM 16MB Cache 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive OEM

*both HD's are roughly the same price. I'm concerned with the Boot error issue on the new HD's.

Any recommendations on not only the HD's but the entire system would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ok. No response. Anywho, I'm switching it up a bit.

forgo the GT430 and stick to HD4000 graphics via I3 3225 and a Gigabyte B75M-D3H Mobo. Same $$$ but newer technology. Still pondering Hard drive situation though.

any thoughts?

thanks

Looks ok to me. Not sure why you are worried about the harddrives? The HDD will give you more space, and since it's a server it won't really need the SSD speed.

I agree about the space. What I'm concerned about is the boot error with different drives. It doesn't seem to be an issue with the SSD.

Thanks for your response.

That's good to know. I couldn't find a defined answer on that. Any recommendations? 500gb will suffice as there won't be much store on it.
