Ok all, I have a great daily machine with an i5 4690K OC'd which works well for everything it does.. except it's far slower in rendering video in FCPX than my 27" 5K iMac at work (i5 processor). So I'm looking to get into a either a new build or used Mac Pro for this specific task, and sell off my Z97 build.
For home, I'm debating on buying a 2009 iMac and upgrading it with dual x5690 Xeons and adding an RX580 (Real Mac)
or
Building a completely new setup from scratch with the 8700K and RX580. (Hackintosh)
A new setup will cost significantly more than buying a used Mac Pro ($500) and upgrading to x5690s ($250)
I'm a photographer and a content creator for my company so FCPX is the primary use of my next system.
Will the 8700K be faster in FCPX than dual x5690s?
Edit: This is more of a use-case scenario rather than a cutting edge, enthusiast scenario.
