First Post. Go easy on the Noob.

I wanted to post pics as well as components used:

2008 Mac Pro Case
Gigabyte Designaire z390 Motherboard
Core I7-9700k Coffee Lake Processor
Gigabyte RX Vega 64 Gaming OC 8GB
Samsung NVME 970 EVO 500 GB
Crucial BX500 960 GB SSD ( x2 in RAID config)
Seagate BarraCuda 3.5 4TB Drive
Noctua NH-L9i L-Type Low Profile Quiet CPU Cooler for LGA115x
Patriot Viper Elite Series DDR4 8GB (x4- 32GB)
Corsair SF Series, SF600, 600 Watt SFX PSU
ARCTIC F12 Silent, 120 mm 3-Pin Case Fan Qty 3
Laser Hive Mac Pro ATX kit with PSU Mount ( Kit includes Brushed aluminum back plate,ATX motherboard tray and mounting hardware)

I am very pleased with how it turned out. The Mac Case is extremely quiet and runs very cool.

Also thanks to CaseySJ i used this guide to configure the system. Followed the instructions and everything works.

wauw, looks very professional, well done, i build a PC in a Powermac G5 case, it is easier as i do not have to cut the back, but maybe one day i will try a Mac Pro case myself. one question : from the description you report an i7 processor ? but the about screenshot show an i9, how does that work ?

@rpclark88,

I just purchased a Mac Pro 1,1 case today. I’m about to buy the Laser Hive ATX kit, but I wondered how you handled the front panel. I see they sell a conversion kit but it requires me to mod the front panel. What did you do to remove the need to change your front.

Thanks

I am kind lost on that one. I have a 9700k in it, but it is identified as an i9 in system properties.

a few years ago some guy on taobao was making front panel boards that were a replacement for the original front panel board. I bought it. It has power button, led and USB 3 port connections. Have not been able to find it again... Bummer.

Had the same issue with mine. If you are using clover, open clover configurator and under cpu type enter 0x0705 then restart and you will have correct cpu indentified.
