Comments:
This post pretty much is signaling the completion of my eHack project documented here: "eHack" [In Progress]
OS X 10.8.4 is running without problems. The motherboard, processor and ram are from the mac mini build, so installation and Multibeast was no problem at first. On first boot, and since following an update, I have had to boot to safe mode to add/re-add a Graphics Mode string to the boot plist. That is detailed in the build page noted at the beginning of this paragraph. Currently I have not added a hz number, but it doesn't seem to need it.

Since there is an SSD and no optical drive, the machine is quite quiet despite what some had said about the eMac's fan. It is not that loud. Perhaps being plugged into a PC fan header has slowed it down. I should really check temps, fans, etc. Haven't done that yet on either of my Hacks.

Next step is to find a home for this guy so I can use it. May end up at parents, or at work.

So here are some pics...

and on to the next project after Haswell (and maybe Mavericks) gets sorted out...

Apple IIgs. The first computer that I bought on my own. Mine was thrown out about 5 years ago, but I found this clean empty case on eBay. I am already mocking it up for a mini itx and flex power supply. There may be a front panel in the works for this one too, but they are all black or silver now. Stay tuned!

Pretty Awesome, one question though. How did you change your "About this Mac"?
My hackintosh stills shows "Mac Pro, Early 2008".

Thanks. I got pretty much all my info about changing the "About this Mac" from the page Stork referred to.

Very cool build, I have a few 17" monitors laying around and I think this would be a great use for one of them. What are you using for fans? I assume that the stock bottom rear fan is an intake, but do you have an exhaust fan anywhere?

Thanks. i have just the eMac case fan which is blowing out, and CPU and PSU fans.

From the pics in your build thread it appears that the fan is exhausting air from underneath the motherboard tray, how are your temps with this setup?

Sorry for any confusion, that is an old pic with the old fan which I had the upside down and had to replace anyhow(broke a blade on my index finger, OUCH!). I ended up finding the eMac service manual online to help out with little things like that. I never fired up the eMac before i took it apart, so i don't know which way the fan was blowing beforehand. It definitely blows air outward. There are plenty of vents above to draw in air I think.

I have yet to test temps. Don't I need to install certain things in Multibeast to get the HW monitors to work? FakeSMC? Haven't done that. I will gladly do that once i figure it out.

Mike

FakeMSC is how to get HW monitoring to work. If you don't have a windows install and can't use Prime95 you may want to try and max out your CPU with a few terminal tricks to see where your temps max out; I used this guide for that http://osxdaily.com/2012/10/02/stress-test-mac-cpu/
