Hello from Australia to everyone.

First of all thanks to everyone who has posted a G4 Cube worklog, you have been my inspiration and guide for this build.

I've owned a G4 Cube from new and it has spent the last few years sitting in the cupboard so I thought I would give it a new life.
I'm hoping to stay as close to the Original look as possible. Although I won't be keeping/installing an Optical drive.

The parts I intend to use are as follows.

CPU; Intel Core i3 3225

MOBO; Intel DQ77KB

RAM; Corsair Vengeance CMSX4GX3M1A1600C9 4GB (1x4GB) DDR3 SODIMM

[X2 for a total of 8GB]
HDD/SSD; Crucial M4 256GB

POWER SUPPLY; Dell Laptop Power Supply

I've researched using previous G4 Cube builds and I hope my parts are compatible?

I'm still unsure what to do with a CPU Cooler? From the builds I've looked at people have used numerous methods but after researching I'm still unsure. I'm happy to put up with the noise of fan.
What would be recommend? Hopefully someone could link me to a Cooler from an Australian retailer/shop.

I also need help with the power button. I was intending to run a cable/s from the motherboard inside the cube and use an Power Button from an Antec case I have to avoid the hassle of the touch power button. I could then have the power button hanging down the back of my desk, which I don't mind.

I'm hoping to order my parts over the weekend and get to work dismantling my beloved Cube.

Pictures will be up soon. (Otherwise it isn't much of a build without them)

Cheers!

Great another Cube project!

you're part look fine! I'll use the Gelid silence plus but Neil is working on a new project with a Noctua NH-L9i Low Profile cooler who also did well so yeah..

Good luck with building hope to see some pic's soon :D

Rick,

I used the Gelid Slim Silence i-Plus CPU cooler on my cube hack (you can read about it here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/powermac-...profile-intel-dh61ag-mini-itx-g4-cube-10.html and starting on page 10 is more about the cube build).

The Gelid cooler is 28mm tall and does fit into the space available. I did modify the cooler so that I could get at the USB headers.

My current scratch build project using the DQ77KB Intel motherboard with a i3-3225 CPU. I am using the NH-L9i noctua CPU cooler, stands 37mm, but is very low noise. This cooler maybe too tall for a cube hack... It depends mostly on how and where you mount the motherboard.
You can see my project here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/others/89452-neilharts-scratch-build-case-2-a.html

Have fun and take your time to get things right.
