    Hello, everyone!
I think IMAC G4 transformation should start from the screen first, because the choice of the screen directly affects the choice of hardware, such as my transformation can only be LVDS interface Thin motherboard, can not be alone. IMac G4 screen is nothing more than three, first, retention arm, change a head, arbitrarily larger, higher resolution screen. Screen box or custom, workload and difficulty or directly display as can be imagined, the original shell was changed, of course, also want to do a simple MOD to install rocker, but overall is good, Different people, different views.. Second, reuse the original screen. The screen is small, the resolution is shabby, but this way is most simple and crude, because the original TMDS into HDMI is not what difficult, more important is it can only display. Third, reuse the original crystal screen frame, change the same size, higher resolution, better display LCD screen. This screen although it is still small, but the only way to retain the original design of the apple is not destroyed, for a better screen is also compensate for many problems, more important is to change the LVDS interface screen can be driven directly with LVDS motherboard. I choose the latter, using the LP171WU5-TLB1 LG screen, 1920X1200 resolution, should be one of the 17.1 most cattle RGB screen, although this screen also for some years, but compared to the current display is completely outdated, and there have been no less, this is the screen graphics workstation with HP.

Original LCD screen power supply lines and microphones, lights of the two lines to retain, just use. LVDS line is very fine, through is still easy. ↓

Do not forget to put on the original plastic tube. ↓
    [IMG]

Through the screen side of the line, and then do a good job shielding. ↓
    [IMG]

Both ends are through, and welding time do not make a mistake. ↓
    [IMG]

The motherboard side I divided into two shares, to facilitate the fan mouth of the plastic pipe can pass smoothly. ↓
    [IMG]

    Welding is completed. ↓
    [IMG]

And then do a good job shielding. ↓
    [IMG]

Seal the rocker's lid and wait for the installation. ↓
    [IMG]

According to the original wiring to complete. ↓
    [IMG]

Screen line length just right, the power line is a bit short, the installation of the last one is inserted. ↓
    [IMG]

    Shake the whole picture. ↓
    [IMG]

    Screen shell installed smoothly. ↓
    [IMG]

The screen about two angle aluminum need their own MOD. ↓
    [IMG]

The light-sensitive plate is the highlight of this screen modification, ready to be placed in the middle of the screen, so the screen should be polished simply. ↓
    [IMG]

Try to make it fit a little and fix it yourself. ↓
    [IMG]

Make a hole in the screen and expose the sensor. ↓
    [IMG]

The front is like this, perfect. ↓

I chose the Q170 of asus, the CPU is i7-7700, the memory is 16GB, and the hard disk is samsung 960 evo.
Imac G4 main board is circular structure, IO's modification is also a difficult problem, I prepare myself to customize a bridge master board. The figure below is the main board structure diagram. ↓
    [IMG]

The drawing was magnified to many times and adjusted the original mainboard. ↓
    [IMG]

The main board except for USB3.0 is purchased, the others are apart. ↓ [IMG]

A large hole is dug in the middle of the main plate, mainly to reduce the height of the main plate, to give the heat dissipation and the displacement of the light. ↓
    [IMG]

    IO.↓
    [IMG]

    Various switching ports. ↓ [IMG]

My power supply is to reuse the original power source, and here I have 16 pins of power supply. ↓
    [IMG]

An appearance. Why is there a USB2.0? Because the motherboard has four USB output, two structural conflicts are blocked, and 19 pins on the motherboard are USB3.0. I have the type-c exclusive. ↓
    [IMG]

The second appearance. This is full of original IO. ↓

There is still a lot of work to do this retrofit, and it's all manual work.↓
    [IMG]

Because of the location conflict, the fixed foot saw off one side, and then added a fixed screw on the motherboard. ↓
    [IMG]

USB transfer connector, also need to weld. ↓
    [IMG]

    Finish the production. ↓
    [IMG]

The figure below is a hand-made conversion head, very small. ↓
    [IMG]

The bottom originally installed wireless network card and memory, now is vacant, ready to install a notebook hard disk here. ↓
    [IMG]

The surface has not been oxidized, and the surface has been polished again. It is found that using a ruler can grind out the effect of grinding. ↓
    [IMG]

The bottom line is lined with a PVC, the final installation effect. ↓
    [IMG]

I reused the wireless network card antenna and changed a new hat. ↓

The grinding is necessary, the heat pipe and the contact parts can be fixed by adhesive silica gel. ↓
    [IMG]

    The finished product figure. ↓
    [IMG]

    Perfect pizza. ↓
    [IMG]

Imac G4 white fan leaf fan is reverse design, estimates that global alone this one, the original is three lines, PWM is unable to realize, so I give down the NOCTUA fan, take its motor, motor and fan just coincide. ↓
    [IMG]

    To complete. ↓
    [IMG]

At the time, Imac G4's advertisement, the tongue-tonguing action of the tongue to make people unforgettable, so the optical drive I also work hard to achieve. The cd-rom of the desktop is no good, only the laptop drive. First of all, the original optical drive saw off the first cut, and then have to make a conversion rack. ↓
    [IMG]

Even though I have reformed the optical drive, it is not enough to bring up the power. ↓
    [IMG]

Crystal acoustics is one of the distinctive features of G4 imac, crystal materials appear a exquisite, very cute, because of the shape such as fish eyes, so is also called "fisheye sound box", but the 3.5 mm interface non-standard, even if the change to 3.5 mm, the mainboard can't direct drive, so I need a small amplifier board. ↓
    [IMG]

    A close-up of the amplifier. ↓
    [IMG]

When the cd-rom drive is replaced with a laptop drive, the rear end has a large area of spare space to install the amplifier. ↓
    [IMG]

The MOD work has been completed and installed.

Once again, this is incredibly impressive work. You hit absolutely every feature of this design and nailed the presentation.

    Great job!
