What motherboard do you have and how did you enable "Generation 1 support"?

I have the X9DAI.
BIOS > chipset configuration > North Bridge >
then you get a ton of options with port speeds and options to chose "GEN1" "GEN2" and "GEN3"

I could not completely figure out how these work and how they are connected to each other. But I figured out the Port number of PCI slot via the diagram in the MB manual and set the "Link Speed" to "GEN1"

and bam it worked.

but strangely the card does not show up in the PCI cards section of the System Report but it works...

Good for you. You know as I was reading this I found a link to question that I kept a file of as this too may also cause some PCI-E card issues as I just had a card stop working for me and once I used the Rosewill RC-401-EX ($14.00); which by the way is the SAME EXACT card as the 2 Sonnet ones that I purchased ($39.00), right down to the very circuits and board config. In any case here is what was said by this person:

Question:
Why won't my computer boot up after installing your PCI network adapter?

Answer:
The reason could be that your computer is experiencing an IRQ (Interrupt Request) conflict, meaning,
after the network adapter was physically installed in your computer it may have been assigned an IRQ
that was already in use by another device. PCI cards can share IRQs for the most part, however,
network adapters usually cause conflicts when sharing IRQs with other devices.
The network adapter and the other device both try to get the attention or "interrupt" the processor (CPU)
at the same time. This "confuses" the processor, and may cause it to lock up (freeze) or keep the
computer from booting all the way up.
The simplest way to try to fix this problem is to shut down your computer, unplug the power cord and
move the network adapter to a different, available slot inside your computer.
Reconnect the power cable to your computer and restart.

Again, this is obviously not your issue, but it does show how sensitive some system setups are when it comes to using different products... nothing's perfect... I'm glad that your issue (for now) is fixed...

interesting!
well yeah, I'm very glad it works now!
thanks for the info.

Graphics

Hi I Have the same Board X9DAI (2 x E5-2650)

I am having huge problems trying to get my Graphics working (GTX 285)
I had no problems with my other Rig (Also Supermicro X8DAI 2 x W5580)

Installing Lion , No problems. EFI string Black screen
GraphicsEnabler Y only brings 1024 x 768
GraphiceEnabler N same story

I even tried a ATI 6850, that just brings a white screen at the install GUI

Installing ML just brings the black screen as soon as the install GUI starts.

Would appreciate any help you can pass my way

thx

did you install the latest Nvidia driver?
it says it supports GTX 285

NVIDIA DRIVERS 270.00.00f06

Sure, I tried that too, Black Screen.
This card was working under lion on another system perfectly using inly Graphics Enabler.
I think it is something to do with PCI Express Addresses on this X9DAI.

Supermicro X9DAI dual E5-2650 32GB

Hope someone can give me a tip.
On this X9DAI I have full Audio (audio integrated) full network functionality (Intel i350)
only the graphics is driving me crazy.

I have a GTX 285, I cannot get it recognized or supported. even though it was perfectly ok on my last build, (Supermicro X8DAI)
GraphicsEnabler Y/N brings no improvement, Nvidia Driver causes black screen.
I generated an EFI String using GFXutil, without any luck. I even tried the second PCI-E x 16 port without any joy.

It must be a simple issue, but I cannot think of it.
Welcome any tips. and does anyone have an edited DSDT for this board?

thx

sorry, the PCIe configuration on this board is a big myth for me as well. Luckily the graphics worked for me
Sorry to be no help.

But could you please tell me how you got Audio working?
I have had no luck at all with this!

Audio was simple,

Multibeast 4.6.1
Under Realtek ALC8XX
Check the following

Undefined Device Injector
Apple HDA Rollback
and the Patched Apple HDA for ALC889.

Install and Voila!
