I got everything to work on this board except for the network, which I ended up using a USB Apple adapter.

Check out the 128GB ram and latest Dual E5-2690 processors:
PRICE, man! PRICE! :p

No really, what did this cost?
It seems like a wonderful machine for 3DCG & Video.

This will be perfect for an ESXi Server. Every last ounce of that RAM and thread will be used.

Never thought you guys would be so excited. I'm grateful for the comments.

Surprisingly, the power draw is pretty low. I'll do an amp meter test later, but running a full stress test in linux, the heat was very minimal. The CPU's are 135W I think, but still not bad. Educated guess, I'd say 4-5 amps max with this set up.

Boot drive is just a 300GB 10K. That raid is an 8 bay SAS box connected to an Areca raid. i was going to reinstall with a 256GB Samsung 830 later on. But I haven't been outside for 2 days :)

I'll add some pics in the original post. There's nothing fancy though.

One reason I bought this is because I have a bunch of servers running ESXi. So I figured worse case scenario, I'll use it for the VMware batch.

Prices:

Supermicro Chassis and X9DAI board, $1200
CPU's E5-2690, $4K for the pair
Memory (VERY LOW) at $80 per 8GB. That;s why I went nuts with RAM.
Rest of the parts are just standard, nothing crazy.

I have a RED Epic camera, so I'm trying to test out 5K playback in realtime. Still installing some editing software.

So far it's been rock solid, ZERO crashes.
