This appears to be a general situtation with 100 series Gigabyte boards. However the fix is simple.
"Problem 6: You select Nvidia Web Drivers in the menu bar or the Nvidia Driver Manager preference pane but when you restart OS X Default Graphics Driver is checked.
"This is caused when your board does not have native NVRAM support such as Gigabyte 100 series boards.

Fix:
setup emulated NVRAM to store the nvda_drv=1 boot flag in boot-args."

For details see Problem 6 in the detailed Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems thread at:

thanks for the tips. yep, there are workarounds.

i'm just wondering if there is anyone out there who has a 100 series motherboard with the native NVRAM support.

i'm looking for 100 series Skylake motherboards. looks like you have 90 series (Haswell) motherboards.

I'm not exactly sure how to check, but another use posted a guide for a Gigabyte GA-170X-UD3 Ultra and I suspect it supports NVRAM because of how they were able to fix iMessage, here is link:

I am using a Gigabyte Z170x Ultra Gaming which is very similar, but I had to use EmuVaribles to get iMessage to work. They haven't answered my question about it yet though...

How do you install RC Scripts? I just went into clover configuration and clicked install EmuVaribles...before doing that if I tried the iMessage debug board and rom said failed...

myth "100 series Skylake motherboards don't support native NVRAM" busted!

the native NVRAM works with the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO Z170 ATX "Skylake" motherboard.

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS-VIII-HERO/

BIOS Version: 1902 x64
Build Date: 06/24/2016

i think the myth got popular because the native NVRAM is not support on "most" 100 series Skylake motherboards.

does anybody know other Skylake 100 series motherboards that have the native NVRAM support? particularly, mITX ones?

confirmed that the native NVRAM support still works after updating to BIOS version 2202 on ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO Z170 ATX.

I can confirm NVRAM support broke after updating the ASUS Maximus Hero VIII to BIOS 3101 (was working on 2202). After installing the EmuVariableUefi Drivers from the linked thread above I managed to get the web driver back but currently couldn't manage to get 5k support again. currently stuck to 1440p.
