This could be the "new way."...

In that case, you would have to have a Unibeast USB handy to finish is all...

Agree. If this is the "new way", there is no other way except with the help of the UniBeast drive. Fortunately, my Gigabyte GA-H77N-WiFi board doesn't require patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext in order to work :headbang:

Well in my case I have found another way to beat this 'new way'. I booted from my CCCloner backup drive, Installed the 10.9.1 update to my main OS X partition and voila it didn't ask for restart even after completion! :shh: I then apply PBI patch to my main OS X.

Personally I think this 'new way' would be specific to updates to updates probably because this update wanted to modify system files that are in use by current logged in session. Just like it happens with few updates of Windows (say SPs). Just my opinion.

Regards,

Hey guys! I just had to do the same thing on my Gigabyte Brix:

1) NullCPUPowerManagement.kext in Extra/Extensions
2) Repair Permissions w/ Kext Wizard
3) Run 10.9.1 Update from .dmg file
4) Reboot (make sure to use UseKernelCache=No)
5) Run Probook Installer again
6) Delete NullCPUPowerManagement.kext
7) Repair Permissions w/ Kext Wizard
8) Reboot

Voila!

All the mucking about with NullCPU* is not necessary in an upgrade from 10.9 to 10.9.1 because AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement was not updated in 10.9.1.
