I have a P7P55D evo MB with i5-750 cpu on 10.8.0. My onboard realtek nics went bad, so I had put in an intel nic previously.

So I wanted to install the recent security update but it requires 10.8.5. Stupidly, I ran the combo install by itself, at the end, it says installation failed. I lost my nic and USB3 after reboot. Then I found the 10.8.5 guide, so I followed the following guide:

I went through the guide, on step 6, after running the combo update, it gave me an installation failed message again. I pushed forward and ran multibeast to install my intel nic driver. That gave me an installation failed message as well. Not knowing what else to do, I restarted and fixed the permission upon reboot.
After the reboot, network in system preference detected the nic and I was able to get online. Currently if I go to about this mac, I see it says 10.8.5, but did it actually update to 10.8.5? What did the failed install break, if anything?
