10.7.4 Sandy Bridge CPU Power Management Fix

Status
Not open for further replies.
Why I am working with C-States and P-States without AICPM.kext? If I check Generate P-States in Chameleon Boot Plist says that p-states was generated successful with ssdt table~ 22 p-states generated.
The only thing that I can't get work is Sleep mode. The monitor turns off but system keeps running. I would like to know when it will be available the flaked speed stepper for 10.7.4

I have deleted the AICPM.kext and NullCpuPowerManagement.kext because the first gave me Kernel Panic and the second forces me to consume unnecessary watts/energy.

I receive one SMC error~ ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start - waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out

Could someone help me to get working on it the AICPM.kext on Lion 10.7.4? I've got DSDT/SSDT extracted from Microsoft with Aida64, I applied patches~ HPET, SBUS, DTGP, RTC and SCOPE_PR.

My system works well, I play games all maximum settings 1920x1080 with 100/250 fps. Sims 3, CSS, TF2, Mafia 2, Euro Truck Simulator, etc. that is an example that system works well at full stuff. But my problem is get the system to sleep, and I think without AICPM.kext I won't get sleep.

Enclosed is my Extra folder content with SSDT/DSDT etc in case any moderator helps me with a check, I would like to find a way to start with AICPM.kext. Thanks anyway.

Here you've got some pictures~

Try installing patched ACPM for 10.7.4 from Multibeast 4.5.1

I applied the AICPM.kext patch 10.7.4 from multibeast 4.5.1 but I can't get P-States correctly yet.

What difference there between 16 42 p-states than 16 22 24 26 28 30 32 34 p-states?
the performance does not change a lot

Can someone explain to me why I should go mad for not getting p-states working properly?

it is necessary?

by the way I get no sleep with AICPM.kext patched for 10.7.4. might be related to fakesmc, usb?

with version 10.7.3 could sleep without problems. What am I doing wrong?

thanks

Using this fix I had a performance gain and reached those p-states:
MSRDumper PStatesReached: (8) 16 20 25 26 27 28 29 30

However it was almost never going lower than 16, while before the fix the multiplier was at 8x when idle.

After editing the SSDT for my i7-2670QM, removing some and adding the range from 8 to 16 I get this and the multiplier now sticks around 8x when idle:
MSRDumper PStatesReached: 8 12 17 22 24 25 26 27 28 29 30

maybe a laptop SSDT could be added to MB?

Attach to a new post in Laptops. I'm sure Sandy bridge laptop users would benefit.

Would anyone be able to explain how come my processor is stuck at 1.6Ghz after updating even though I am using an i5-2400? Note, my BIOS settings have not changed since 10.7.3 and I am using the latest BIOS version from samisnake.

Best Wishes,
Craig

This mean that my p-states are working or not? smc monitor reads something but mrsdumper only 16 42~ what means this?

I edited the ssdt.aml from multi beast 4.5 i7 overclocked up to 4.2. changed all cpu1,cpu2,cpu3 to p000,p001,p002 etc.

I think there many changes and coincidences, the cpu temp cores are similar for 4 cores, not like before. if I change the ssdt.aml there's not appear the AICPMvers in the SMC monitor and the frequencies are not like in picture. they're different for example the 4200 is 4158, 1600 is 1584 etc

Generate C-states [NO]
Generate P-states [YES]
Drop SSDT [YES]

As for the over-clocked SSDT, I reduced the maximum clock to 4.2 GHz since that is the maximum that OS X can report.
I'm running my 2700K at 4.6 GHz and OS X reports 4.3 GHz. Would I have to lower the CPU freq to use the overclock SSDT?

I had C1E, C3, C6 and EIST disabled. Re-enabled EIST now, would I re-enable the others too?

I have not upgraded to 10.7.4 yet and it seems like I will wait until all questions are ironed out.
