I confirm this is working:

Vendor: SAPPHIRE
Model: HD6450 1GB GDDR3 PCIE16 11190-02-20G
Device ID: 0x6779

Although system profiler shows:
Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD NI40

Got it to work with ATI drivers extracted from MBpro update. (ATI 1.6.32.12)

Thank you for your report but can you give a little more info please to simplify adding it to the list?
Please include which guide you followed with the ATi drivers?

here is the reporting template

Brand=Sapphire
Model=HD6450 1GB GDDR3 PCIE16 11190-02-20G
Device ID=0x6779
Multibeast=3.5.2 and 3.6 (both worked)
Method= I don't understand that, I just installed the drivers from Multibeast
Framebuffer= I don't understand that, I just installed the drivers from Multibeast
MacOS= 10.6.7 retail
Reported by= Vaix49
Notes=I installed the ATI drivers extracted from MBP update. VGA works, cannot try HDMI or DVI at the moment. Will get a new LCD soon, then I'll report back.

Brand=Sapphire
Model=HD 5870
Device ID=0x6898
Multibeast=3.5.2
Method= Chimera 1.1 + Multibeast ATI drivers. GE=y
Framebuffer=Auto (Uakari)
MacOS=10.6.7
Reported by=Mangad
Notes=All works but very poor perfomance. Cinebench 11 - 15.9 fps

My card shows very poor perfomance. Any thoughts?
MacPro3.1, but setting to 4.1 does not improve perfomance.

Cinebench is very CPU limited. If you are running the 5870 alongside your Celeron e3300, than the score could be right.

Run Xbench with only "Quarz Graphics Test", "OpenGL Test" and "User Interface Test". And post the results.

Same card as freituk:

Brand= XFX
Model= HD-687A-ZDBC 1GB DDR5 aka Black Edition Dual Fan (OC)
Device ID= ID=0x6738
Multibeast= 3.5.2, Extracted only ATi 1.6.32.12, Chimera 1.1 (via pacifist)
Method= Chimera 1.1 (uses Andy's fix), GE=yes
Framebuffer= Autodetect, so not needed, but probably duckweed
MacOS= 10.6.7
Reported by= colorfuel

Notes= Use OpenGL.framework from latest 10.6.7 MBP update to replace old OpenGL.framework. This corrects the brightness (gamma?) problem with Valve Games (eg. Portal 2, Half-Life 2 etc.). Here are the files: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=250804&st=40&p=1655159&#entry1655159

Installation:

On a system already running chameleon RC5 on separate boot partition, with GE=yes, DSDT and several kext.

- Extract ATi Drivers 1.6.32.12, Chimera 1.1 boot file from Multibeast 3.5.2
- Extract OpenGL.framework from latest MBP (10.6.7) update. (Needed for Valve Games)

- Replace Chameleon RC5 r699 with Chimera 1.1 boot file
- Replace ATi drivers from S/L/E with new ones (using kexthelper)
- Replace OpenGL.framework from S/L/F with new one
- Repair rights
- shut down
- Install 6870 into PC
- Boot with "-F" et voilà.. everything works just fine.

I dont like to edit my DSDT with GFX Framebuffer, because it would make it useless if ever I had to swap the gfx card with another one.

upload all files, cinebech now?

All those files are readily available, I'm not sure we need more uploads.

Quartz Graphics Test: 245.24
OpenGL Graphics Test: 242.78
User Interface Test: 182.90

As far as i remember my previous GTX285 showed about 300 in OpenGL test.

Hmm, those numbers are not very high indeed. I still think your gfx card is limited due to your CPU.

There does not seem to be anything wrong with your installation, but you could try to specify a different framebuffer in your boot.plist. I dont know which one works best for your card, but with a little research you should find lists of compatible framebuffers either here or at insanelymac.

Good luck!

@jpa:

My cinebench score is still the same as with any 6870 card specified in this thread and the others, I've not changed anything and, like notshy says, those files are readily available.
