10.10.5 To El Capitan

Hi,
I apologies in advance if this is a duplicate.

I have a hackintosh running on a Gigabyte Z87M-DH3 on Chimera (I believe or Chameleon). I need to update this to El Capitan, in order to update to Xcode 7.3. I have only updated once and it caused a lot of problems with my graphics card (EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 760).

Could someone point me in the right direction to get me updated to El Capitan. Am i right in thinking this will need to be done via Clover? If so, how can I migrate to Clover?

Will a Time Machine backup be helpful during the process to keep my docs and settings?
