Hi all, quick question - is there an easy fix for this?
My portable 'work' drive, which is a USB-C SSD, never mounts on boot. It mounts fine once I unplug it and re-plug it after my hack has booted.
I'm worried about damaging my usb-c i/o port with the daily unplug/plug routine.
Am I worrying...

Never had any USB issues on this machine, followed standard instructions and only did the 'Increase Max Port Limit' with Multibeast, and all flash drives and other USB hardware has been seamless from my perspective.
I bought a USB powered drive recently, and it does not show up in Disk Utility...
so i have a old mac mini mid 2007, it can boot in 64 efi but the reason apple blocked it from running higher os than lion was no gma 950 support in 64bit osx.
so i recently added a 150 ssd and noticed the wifi slot could be used with an egpu to at least get el captain running with a native...
So my hackintosh completely freezes if I copy gigs of files or a few files from an internal SATA to an external USB drive. I notice if it's like 20 small pictures, no prob but if it's a bigger file or a lot of files it freezes the whole mac. No spinning ball... just nothing moves, time...
I've installed Sierra to my drive Kingston hyper x 120G ssd connected externally and it booted ok.
Then i connected it directly to the mainboard and now it does not boot.
It shows the apple logo and approximatelly at the middle loading bar it stops and shows the forbidden sign.
Working on a new build. I've looked around and many users have had my same problem, but none of the solutions I've tried have worked so far.
I am installing Sierra on a desktop (Adlink M-342 MoBo, SanDisk SSD target drive) and can't get my SSD to show up in the installer. I only see external...
I got fully working hackintosh setup which is MSI PE60. There were no problems until I started to use an external monitor as a second screen. Now every time I boot Sierra, my built-in screen is black (backlit tho) and the external screen displays properly. Built-in screen starts to work...
i fixed my USB 3.0 problem and the slots seem to work now with usb sticks and hdd's.
Unfortunatly, my external SD card reader with USB 3.0 only works on USB2.0 Slots and not on the 3.0 ones. Due to my work i need a better speed for my SD card and i would like to ask you if there is...
This project is actually two years old, but despite the aging SATA standard, still current as an idea.
And of course - conforming hackintosh different thinking.
I invite you to my shop for a short film of the "Do it yourself" series:
Hello friends. I'm having trouble with the StarTech external enclosure. I keep getting errors while formatting. I have posted a screenshot of this and the error detail in text below. At first the enclosure lights up as if the disk is being used, but after a minute the light goes off and the...
I currently have an almost perfectly running Hackintosh. Everything pretty much works including wifi, bluetooth, and even Handoff. There's just one little thing I seem to be struggling with getting to work, and that's external usb 3.0 hard drives. If I plug one into a USB 3.0 port on my...
I have a Thinkpad T440 that I have running 10.11.4 flawlessly (except for wifi and bluetooth because I can't risk bricking the BIOS chip with a bad flash like what happened to my X220). Everything else works either out of the box or with DSDT edits, including power management, sleep...
I have a working Yosemite hackintosh running on my external hard drive, and windows 8 on my internal hard drive on my laptop. I want to buy a 2TB internal hard drive to include both OS's. Can i do that by dividing the 2TB HDD into 2 partitions, and then just cloning each OS to a...
[SOLVED]Internal drive mounting as external. Clover
Interesting new issue for me.
Reinstalled via clover yesterday and all worked exactly as planned until I booted up and realized my internal 2TB Western Digital HDD is listed as an external drive. I know it's a minor issue but it sort of...
I just clean installed El Capitan on my machine using the Clover method:
AsRock z75 Pro3
Intel i7-2600k Unlocked CPU
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 TI 1GB
Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz DDR3 Ram - 16GB
Corsair 120Go Force3 SATA 3 SSD
Corsair HX650W AT
Everything works like a charm but...
I have a 2TB WD My Passport USB3 drive, and it has 3 partitions: a Time machine one, Windows archive, and Mac OS X Archive.
Recently, the TM and OS X Archive partitions haven't been mounting when I plug it into my Hack, and I ran some commands in terminal (since Disk Utility doesn't...
Hello there guys!
This is my first post, so please be forgiving :)
I'm thrilled to report that my first Hackintosh build is up and running thanks to this awsome site/forum.
I'm running an MSI H97I AC and an Intel Core i5 4460, and installation went as smooth as it could.
