ASUS initially had no warning when they released the updated NVM36. That was BIOS 2204. Was a nightmare !!!! It was so bad that the Thunderbolt controller would literally crash and throw PCIe bus errors when the system entered and resumed from sleep, XMP was on, and a Thunderbolt device was...
I think the bugs have settled down, we've come a far way from the abomination that was 2204. I wouldn't necessarily say one needs to upgrade beyond 2103 and NVM31, I only did it to test whether I could use USB4 enclosures with the system, as NVM31 wasn't working.
Based on my initial testing of...
Gentlemen, I have been on hiatus. I just tested the new TB4 SSDT on z690 formula, BIOS 3401, tb4 NVM 36.58 macOS 12.6.8...
Excellent progress I notice.
Thunderbolt Bus activated for the first time on Maple Ridge, no firmware modification necessary. Note I am on NVM36 because it is necessary...
To boot any Intel CPU newer than comet lake, we must Change the cpuid in open core to that of a supported x86 processor. As we know, Apple has not used any of the recent Intel lakes in its products.
Nvm30 on BIOS 2103 and below has hot plugging support with one caveat… certain devices based on Alpine Ridge jhl6240 don’t hot plug. They will enumerate if connected at cold boot. But if you unplug or put the system to sleep and wake it, the device doesn’t come back until you reboot.
Nvm36...
Yes. That is true about rolling back z690 back to nvm30, But officially Intel has ended support for tb2 on tb4 with nvm36 and newer. In fact, some Newer z790 motherboards come with nvm42 or newer (which among other things lets asm2464pd devices show up in the Intel Thunderbolt control center)...
Understood! Makes sense!
What I don’t remember though is whether the one DisplayPort cable will, in macOS, enable dual display output. In Windows, yes. But I can’t remember if it does so in macOS. At the worst, just get a long DisplayPort or HDMI cable and route it from your GPU to the other...
macOS does not support multi stream transport so to do dual display you need to connect one display to the DisplayPort/HDMI output of the dock and the other display shall be connected to one of the downstream Thunderbolt ports.
I don’t know if one DisplayPort output from your video card...
8 lanes of pcie 4 = same bandwidth as 4 lanes of pcie5.0. so assuming the GPU is a pcie4.0 video card, perhaps ASUS is going to allow a pcie5.0x4 nvme drive to operate at full speed ? Would be interesting to test !

AQC113CS
Runs natively even on Apple silicon. No patch necessary (at least on apple silicon).
Supports AirPlay over Ethernet. I have one running in a modified thunderbolt nvme enclosure, I added a m.2 to pcie adapter and enclosed everything in a...
I wasn't suggesting that only Broadcom chips are used in the Sonoma-capable Macs. I have a Mac from 2019, Wifi Radio has PCI-id 0x14e4, which is Broadcom. All I was saying is the Broadcom chips that are supported by Sonoma aren't available for purchase from 3rd parties... we can't buy them on...
Apple removed support for the broadcom WiFi cards from 2017 and before, which unfortunately includes our Fenvi cards. The Broadcom WiFi cards are officially supported by Sonoma are not available for purchase 3rd parties, seems that Apple has a wholesale deal with Broadcom.
There are...
I’ll have to check my firmware version but the aqc113cs from owc works natively with macOS, even on apple silicon. No need for any patches. And it also supports airplay.
