I'm having the same problem with the same exact graphics card too. Wondering if any of you have solved the issue? My setup is also weird because the problem seems to be intermittent, there are times where the login screen will be the same native resolution I'm running in OSX (5120X1440).

Tried disabling the Super IO, still the same, the first installer procedure would reach the 2 minutes remaining mark, and suddenly crashes, flashing a very quick Verbose image (see attached) and then reboot. and the installation is not complete.

having the same issue here too! not sure why its doing this...Safari sometimes does something similar to me as well, but usually i can force quit safari and the system is fine. but with the AE issue, it causes the black blocky screen, then u have to just restart, not force restart tho, system...

After changing SystemVersion.plist back to 16G29, and installing the driver, the driver works fine now!
