I updated my EFI distribution with the EC fix. I was stumped with the Catalina installer not booting and I researched the fixed. The EC patches are added for those who have a Sabertoooth X99 setup. It should work on other Asus X99 boards as well.
This thread is for Asus X99 support, which is a continuation of kgp X99 Mojave Guide. I managed to get Catalina Beta working on a Asus Sabertooth X99, but with some issues. PCI devices, especially the Wifi adapter which converts an Apple Wifi to PCIe (Broadcom BCM43xx) currently does not work. I...
Updated this guide for Mojave, and it's running smoothly under the basic setup. Note that the original guide thread by kgp for X99 systems have been locked recently. I can provide support, but I will not be adapting the USB and SSDT patches due to time constraints. If anyone has a Sabertooth X99...
Nobody haven't given me a solution to this issue. I started over with a new EFI folder from EFI-X99-10.14-PB1-Release-iMacPro1,1-280618.zip. I followed the steps up to Step B1 to D6. I skipped the Bios patch since it's already installed and adding TSCSync.kext and VegaGraphicsFixUp.kext and edit...
I am having issues to get the installer running since I get the displaypolicyd: Service exited with abnormal code 1. Surprisingly, after making the necessary changes to config and adding TSCAdjustReset and VegaGraphicsFixUp, I can boot into High Sierra. I didn't mess around with the aml files...
You probably need to install WhateverGreen.kext to make it work. I only have experience with RX 580 and Vega cards, which work out of the box perfectly. If you can't get the R9 290 to work, I would definitely go the RX 580/Vega route. If you are using a iMac Pro SMBIOS, I would suggest using a...
Update!
After many troubles with using nVidia Cards, I sold my EVGA Geforce GTX 1070 Hybrid in June when I bought a RX 580 8GB in April. However, the MSI Armor RX 580 causes issues with macOS since the Intel X99 does not have a Intel GPU. When you try to export anything with Final Cut Pro, it...
I have used the EFI folder with some changes to make iMessages work and change the id to use Haswell. Now I am having issues with Final Cut Pro X with an RX 580. When I export a master file, the graphics become very laggy that the machine becomes unusable. The same happens when I launch...
I tried the new NvidiaFixUp (compiled from source and updated Lilu) and it gives me black screens. I am sick of tired of nVidia. In short, I simply went and buy a used AMD RX 580 8GB that is slightly above MSRP. It's a downgrade from a GTX 1070, but it will give me less hassles with macOS...
I updated the new EFI folder with macOS High Sierra 10.3.3 comparability. I had to take a different approach so I can install macOS High Sierra 10.3.3 update. This requires flashing a modded BIOS to use the new method. The new method works a lot better and enables CPU Power Management. However...
People have gotten macOS High Sierra to work on Asus X99 boards, including myself. Someone created a big guide on how to do it, and it requires patching the motherboard firmware and flashing it.
Kgp's guide is a good place to start -...
Upgraded to High Sierra and it works well after many attempts trying to solve the "++++" issue. I will be modifying the guide soon for High Sierra support. Props to Kgp for his guide over there
Attached is the EFI folder. Just replace the clover folder with this. Note that you may need to add the nv_disable=1 flag to run the installer if running an nVidia GPU.
Also, change the serial number so iMessage will work.
I have issues with sleep not working, and it's something that is hard to set up with most hackintosh. I am still looking for a solution to that. But the freezing issue with the screensaver might have to be with the sleep time settings as I have the screensaver on and it never freezes.
Aside...
For it to work, you need to mount the EFI partition on the flash drive you generated and copy those files to the EFI/Clover folder, not to the partition that contains the installation files. You can mount the EFI partition using the EFI Mounter v3. You copy these files to the clover folder in...
The args you should use is "darkwake=1 npci=0x2000 uia_exclude=HS02; HS03; HS04; HS05; HS08; HS11; HS12; SS02; SS03; SS04;" nv_disable=1 needs to be added for first install and after before the web drivers are installed. After the web drivers are installed, remove nv_disable=1.
Update: January 28, 2017
I replaced the graphics card with a GTX 980 Ti. There is no need to reinstall the nVidia drivers since it got detected. The reason I went with a 980 Ti and sell the 970 is to help with video editing encoding and game performance. I sold my 1080 since it's not compatible...
The Sabertooth x99 board uses an ALC1150, so just install the ALC1150 kext in Multibeast. This post from someone who uses an Asus x99 Deluxe has all the kexts to copy to the clover's kext folder. The kext pack will work with the x99 Sabertooth since the hardware is similar to the X99 board.
