Greetings, all. I have a very stable Z390 Designare i9 9900KS system for MacOS Ventura and Pro Tools and Vienna Symphonic Library -with fully-functioning Thunderbolt (hot swap/UAD Apollo -reconnect) for my UAD Apollo 8 Quad (Thunderbolt 2 with Thunderbolt 3-to-2 adapter).
Q: For my narrow-use...
Yes! Thanks if you can share a working one. Mine (the one you were pointing to) doesn't work anymore, and that one didn't require the DAGPM kext. My RX580 use to use an average of ~30W with no open apps, but now uses ~75W with no open apps. When I tried to use a new "mattystonnie" one from his...
Poke around this thread for my long-winded advice regarding the setup and care of using a UAD Apollo 8. There's a bit to it. Don't flash anything and don't go beyond F9i if you need to keep hotswap/powerswap with your device. Be sure of the location of the EFI that's being read at boot.
Save your projects and any special settings you need (and maybe any databases?) to a separate drive and run the "Uninstall Resolve" app.
Shut down the hack, restart and reinstall your software, following whatever prompts you get while reinstalling Resolve. Just to make sure, are you using the...
It sounds like a folder permissions issue. Did you get a prompt when installing asking for folder access? It's often managed via System Settings<Security & Privacy.
I've had that happen using MacOS and Sleep. Turns out that the freezing was just from the CPU overheating because sometimes the fans won't spin-up after waking from sleep.
Selecting the right platform id is important when using Mojave.

I recommend that you password lock your BIOS setup so that Windows can't change anything. BIOS<Security option<Setup. Use a separate SSD for Windows, for sure.
@iamjoehan One more thing: By any chance, were you using Filevault and maybe you either switched your platform ID or ScanPolicy or SecureBootModel in your config.plist?
I could have sworn that there was a post a couple years ago stating that hot-swap on UAD Thunderbolt interfaces is lost after flashing the Titan Ridge chip, at least with the Z390 Designare.
Also, exactly which Fractal Define case? (i.e., I had a Define R6 and an S. The USB mapping is different between the two.) Also, I never, ever install Logitech drivers or control panels. If a feature on a mouse or keyboard can't run without loading their "software", I won't miss it. FWIW, I've...
Thanks, everybody who advised. I've ordered a Sapphire RX-6600 from the link in the buyer's guide. I will now try to gather patches, such as a low-power option like I have for the RX-580.
FWIW, I'm not gaming. I'm just trying to keep my powerful –but very quiet– Z390 OpenCore system (see build sig) going (and very quiet) for the foreseeable Intel future of MacOS and FCPX. Not sure if Metal 3 and so on will eventually make my system incompatible with FCPX. I would just buy a new...
