FireWire does work on Asus P9x79-WS with 10.6.8 probably will work with Lion also.

Re: If intel new X79 support lion? Hi, I never got the Intel motherboard to work. I traded it in for an Asus P9X79-WS and then the build was easy. Everything except for power management works. I'm running at 4.4 ghz with no over voltage settings and it's stable.

The 3930K and Asus P79X79 motherboards work great with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Running stable at 4.4 gigs, Network and sound work, USB 3.0 and power management don't.

Also, if you need more than 16 PCIe lanes, the X79 / 39xx is the way to go.

Hi, I have a WS and it was very easy to get working. I didn't use a DSDT. I just used Multibeast and the Kexts recommended by Maleorderbride to get the sound and network working. Mick

Hi, I don't think the problem is Nullcpumanagement. I'm using that kext and can restart ok. The Geekbench discrepency may be because you need to turn Speedstep off in bios to over clock this MB in OSX. Great to see another audio user on this forum! Mick
