Did the new Mac Minis make Hackintosh obsolete?

To me, the point of a Hackintosh is that you're free to build with whatever hardware you want. :) Those Mac Minis are nice, but they're just one specific type of build. Whether they exist or not is beside the point for me.

Remove invalid entry in boot menu

Hi all :) Having a weird issue which I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out. I built a computer according to this guide, and it's working perfectly fine, running OSX 10.13. However, a while back during an update that required a restart, my computer crashed. When I restarted, there was...

Installed Clover but still get Windows Boot Loader

Hi all, I recently followed pastrychef's excellent tutorial and got a working OSX system. However somehow I've been unable to get the bootloader installed properly. Before installing OSX, I installed Windows 10, and each time I start my computer and press F8 I only see this. I can't seem to...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I just wanted to post a quick explanation of what went wrong with my setup and how I fixed it. These are the most pertinent components: Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon™ RX Vega56 8G HBM2 I'm guessing the video card was probably the one that made things hard for...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I've been at it for hours and hours and hours...non-stop. I decided to try one more thing before calling it a night, and somehow that worked. I turned on a couple of "fixes" in the boot menu. Including "fix video" and "fix headers". I'm not sure which one does the trick. I'll investigate more...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Changing to the other DP connector doesn't make a difference. I changed to CPU Integrated graphics and switched my monitor to the motherboard's DP. That allowed it to get a little further in booting, and supposedly with the correct settings (looked like a full screen loading at native res). But...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Could I do that with a USB stick possibly? I just tried turning CSM off, which launches Clover in native resolution but unfortunately the installer doesn't boot, it's just an Apple logo forever without progress bar. I'll try a different monitor. The amazing thing is that the monitor reports...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Monitor is an Asus PB279Q. It's connected through DisplayPort on the GPU. I'm going to try some more things to see if I can make it work. edit: should maybe add that the Apple logo isn't minuscule.

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I would like to thank you for this awesome guide. I ended up going with the same motherboard, same CPU and an AMD card as well. In my case, the Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX Vega56 8G. Unfortunately I can't boot into the installer. I use Unibeast 8.1.0, and when it's done I replace the EFI directory...

    Thoughts on this MicroATX build?

Awesome. I'm hoping to keep it relatively quiet too. According to the reviews I've read this one doesn't make a lot of noise.

    Thoughts on this MicroATX build?

Given that AMD is a better option, I went and picked this one for now. What do you think? GPU: Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega64 8G HBM2 https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1166197/sapphire-nitro+-radeon-rx-vega64-8g-hbm2/specificaties/ Although I still haven't decided on a case. Time to find one...

    Thoughts on this MicroATX build?

I think I actually got that motherboard from one of your posts then, because I was browsing around saving links to motherboards from posts to check out later. :) Also thanks for the advice, I don't really need Cuda so I'll have another look for a graphics card. The buyer's guide says they are a...

    Thoughts on this MicroATX build?

Hi all, I'm thinking of building a computer for gaming and for work. I might end up dual booting with Windows, but in any case I do need OSX for work, so my focus is on making sure it's compatible. I've gotten most things from the buyer's guide, some from user build topics around here. I really...

Thanks! Whether or not I'd have to re-run Multibeast was actually my main question. :)

How safe is it for me to update?

Thanks :) I'm planning on just trying it, I can continue my work just fine on my laptop if something goes wrong. Still, I'm guessing that all my installed drivers should just stay right where they are, without me needing to put it all back after the update?

How safe is it for me to update?

Hi there! A while back, I followed this guide on a Hackintosh made according to the August 2013 Buyers Guide (Mini-ITX). I've got my Mac OS X 10.8 working properly, but now I'd like to upgrade to 10.9. I'm really curious what the general success rate is, and what I should be doing to prepare...

Enabling Vt-x — is it possible?

So I've got a successful setup now, using a Gigabyte GA-H77N-WIFI. It works fine. However, aside from OSX I still use a few Windows programs, so I use Parallels Desktop to use them. In order to get my Hackintosh working, I had to disable Intel Virtualization Technology (Vt-x) in the BIOS. Is...

    Passive cooling video card?

It all worked out fine. Here's how I cut up my case (just that little part on the right next to the DVD-RW): More pictures here: http://imgur.com/a/nsT9c Thanks again for the recommendation, the card's working perfectly fine.
