Awww, dammit. I hate being *that guy*. Sorry everyone and glad to hear others are successful with this board.

    EVGA Classified SR-2 270-WS-W555-A2 LGA 1366

I see in Newegg's comments that someone seems to have had success using it as the basis of their Hack Pro build, but just wondering if anyone here has, as I've had good luck with Tony's methods thus far.

    EVGA Classified SR-2 270-WS-W555-A2 LGA 1366

Does anyone have this motherboard? Does the EVGA "Classified" DSDT in the current database work for it? Anyone know? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813188070 I'm considering a build based on this motherboard to more closely match the current Mac Pro offering (with dual Xeon CPUs).

    Hardware RAID

If you run a hardware or software RAID 0 to create a single volume out of multiple disks, you run the risk of one drive failing and losing everything on that volume. RAID 0 may as well have been named that because that's the number of times you should ever use it: 0. Even SSD are not 100% safe...

    Dell XPS 15 SandyBridge L502X

Anyone have one of these and give it a go yet? I have an order in, and not sure if I'll end up eBaying and just buying a new MBP or if I'll try loading OSX on it. It has the same CPU as the high-end 15" MBP (i7-2720QM), the same chipset (I think) with the H67, and I think it has a Gigabyte...

    Simple NVIDIA 4xx Install Procedure

Partition the thumb drive as 1-Partition, the hit the Options button and select GUID. Doesn't matter what format you choose, as your disk restore operation will clone whatever source image or disk you're using and will format your thumb drive accordingly. As for CloneZilla, it's meant to make...

    Simple NVIDIA 4xx Install Procedure

I think you can pass in the 'arch=i386' flag at the Chameleon splash screen. Then just edit your plist file and add this flag. Or just email Tony before he builds your CustomBeast.

    Simple NVIDIA 4xx Install Procedure

There are a couple of options within MultiBeast for installing legacy kernels. Do you know what the version of the kernel was that worked for you? If so, you should be able to apply one from MultiBeast. I think these are in the "Unsupported CPU" section, but the menu of MultiBeast has changed so...

    Simple NVIDIA 4xx Install Procedure

Depends on what you want to do. If you're into the whole Adobe CS5 scene (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, etc), you want Fermi. This is because you can easily modify the CS5 suite to support your card's CUDA cores and use the Mercury hardware engine for rendering. Makes a huge difference...

    Simple NVIDIA 4xx Install Procedure

Well ladies and gentlemen, I can't explain it, but removing my internal drive (the one with my previously working 10.6.4/9800GT load on it) to an external enclosure, connecting it to my MBP and then installing 10.6.6, the nVidia update, and MultiBeast w/ Chameleon 2 RC5 worked. It seems to be...

    Simple NVIDIA 4xx Install Procedure

Booted directly from the drive. Damnedest thing now is that my machine won't even boot with the external drive plugged in. It just freezes up. I'm about to just yank the internal drive into an external enclosure and start over. I should have stayed at F9 BIOS. Never had this kind of problem...

    Simple NVIDIA 4xx Install Procedure

Followed these steps last night: 1. Took 500GB external drive and connected to my MBP. 2. Loaded OSX from scratch with the retail 10.6.3 disc that came with my 2010 Unibody MBP using OSInstall.mpkg method. 3. Ran 10.6.6 combo update on external drive. 4. Ran MultiBeast on external drive using...

    Simple NVIDIA 4xx Install Procedure

To be clear, I should boot from iBoot-GE, select my existing SL install (10.6.4) then type -x and hit enter to boot? This should work? I tried doing this with -v -x PciRoot=1 and got fairly far but got the same Kernel Panic as before (pmap_mem_steal or something). Will try using just -x and post...

    Simple NVIDIA 4xx Install Procedure

I get a Kernel Panic trying to boot from iBoot-GE. I can get to the boot select option, but selecting either iBoot-GE or my existing SL install (10.6.4 which worked 100% with 9800GT) results in KP every time. Short of removing the drive, putting it in an external enclosure, connecting to my...

    Simple NVIDIA 4xx Install Procedure

Yeah, the secret with OSX is not to over-think things. Remember that it is an OS designed for people who are tired of doing complex things in Windows and who aren't brave enough to switch to Linux. :D Everything in OSX is simplified, sometimes to the point of irritation. Patience required at times.

    XPS 14 Install

I'm interested to hear your results if you can get this working. Can you tell me more about your model's configuration? I just ordered an XPS 14 for my wife which has an i5-430 (I think that's the model), and the Nvidia 420m 1GB video card. If you have the i7-720QM or i7-820QM/840QM, I'm not...

    Don't waste money buying 1600mhz DDR3!
