A week or so on and the card is excellent. However my boot time has gone from about 15s to over 3 minutes...the progress bar under the apple gets to a certain point about 1/3 along and then goes super slowly. I didn't make any BIOS changes, just a boot arg. Not a complete dealbreaker but...
There appears to be a bunch of them on sale where I live. Anything I should avoid?

Thanks for the tips! I'm running (2) 27" @ 1440p right now and it's fine, but was concerned...maybe I mis-read.
I wasn't sure about the noise...my 56 is basically silent and I don't want to be sitting beside a jet engine!
I'll look at the other two you suggested...Thanks. I see a lot of hand...
My eventual intent is to run (2) 32" 4k monitors, and from what i've read the 56 isn't up to the task. I have a used VII for sale locally...will this do the trick? Price is about 325USD.
I recently got Mavericks installed and this thread helped a lot. One thing that that I'll contribute: installing BIOS 10c seemed to fix the 4-slots-of-RAM issue for me, so start with that.
From customer service today FWIW:
