[Guide] Dell XPS 9360 Ventura OpenCore

I have purchased myself an XPS 9360 containing an updated i5-8250U. An updated bootpack will be posted in the near future supporting the latest version of macOS Ventura. The i5-7200U is still in use by my partner and will continue to receive update reports.

Yes, that's correct. I do not have a 1080p machine to test with, so I have only personally validated/updated the 4K config.

I can replicate the issue on my end as well both with this machine and my XPS 9360, indicating it's likely a larger issue than just this machine. Both have DW1560. I am afraid I'm not much help here, though. It may be prudent to open an issue in the Acidanthera bugtracker if this feature is...

Please feel free to take any info here for a Sonoma guide - I will definitely be keeping this machine on Ventura for the foreseeable future, since it is my main machine now.

Regarding question #1 - There are additional variables you can set using grubshell that will "re-unlock" undervolting on your BIOS. While I have not done this myself, as I am on older BIOS, this appears to work, and should allow you to use Voltageshift without manually setting the undervolts in...

The preliminary patches to patch Broadcom support back into Sonoma require root paching via OCLP, which breaks Delta updates. Not the end of the world, but an annoyance for sure. I may be keeping this machine on Ventura for the foreseeable future, considering it works so well as is.

This could be a fault in your adapter. I have only ever output Type-C to HDMI with an Amazon Basics Type-C hub and have had no issue with audio out over HDMI, but I have not tried with Type-C, nor do I have a DP monitor with built in speakers to test. Do you have the issue over HDMI as well? I...

To all those following - you are clear to update to the latest 13.5 release. I'll release an updated bootpack next week when OpenCore 0.9.4 drops with experimental Sonoma support. For those like myself who wish to continue to use this machine, there is good news that Broadcom WiFi support has...

Always trust your BIOS and your personal experience. The macOS recommendations are limits set by Apple for a MacBook Pro, which we certainly do not have. FWIW, I put a brand new, from Dell battery in my 9560 just a few months ago and it already suggests service in macOS. I am still on 13.3.1...

From FileVault, my machine boots in 24 seconds, though I tend not to reboot my machine very often, since sleep/wake works so well.

Thanks for the report. I always notice an oddity after installing an update, either graphically during boot, or something similar, but it always goes away after a reboot. A PSA to any still following, there appear to be lingering, minor bluetooth issues with the DW1560. Just now, I had to...

As I don't have a system with those specs, I'm afraid I can't answer those questions. You could use this EFI as a jumping off point to get your model working. All the ACPI patches and kexts are still relevant - upgrades to OpenCore do not change the need for patches/kexts.

Release and Updates 4/11/23 - Initial Release - v0.1 Note - posted, but main page in process. Initial release is rudimentary, but stable, missing some features such as Realtek SD Card Reader, VoltageShift, etc. These will be added and this post cleaned up in the future. This is an forked...

Attached is the latest release using OC 0.9.1 to support macOS 13.3.1. This commit also enables support for the integrated Realtek SD card reader. These kexts were previously disabled by default, but updates have made them stable enough for use.

My P31 Gold 2TB has just now with OC 0.9.1 and Monterey 13.3 started to boot up reliably. Unclear what has changed, but thankful.

Oh, really? It is possible that VoltageShift is not needed on your machine, then. Many moons ago when I attempted to undervolt using modGrubShell, it was either unstable, lost its undervolt on sleep, or lost its undervolt randomly. My machine only runs macOS, so VoltageShift was the logical...

These values are adequate and your formatting is correct. The amount you can undervolt depends on your silicon. My CPU is undervolted to -160, which is very low. Your above screenshot indicates that the offset was successful. It appears you are good to go. A word of warning, do not commit the...

Thank you for the good info. I do not have the 5W iGPU issue. Currently looking at 0.88W while typing this and the system just woke up from sleep. Hello - The UEFI variables listed here are not required for Undervolting. In my experience, the variables mentioned for BIOS-level undervolts in the...

I'm afraid you have again typed incorrectly. The command works if you are in the directory properly. You are missing a space after the "cd" command, and have used incorrect syntax when specifying a folder with a space in the name.
