    [success!] scorza’s Hurt Hackerack: GA-Z87X-OC — i7-4770K — GTX 780 Ti

I want to say the 4-pin is only needed for extreme overclocking, like subzero cooled overclocking? But I'll check my mobo once I'm home to be sure. I should note that I never sorted out my freeze problems, but plenty of other people have had good luck with this mobo and other parts. I think I...

    [success!] scorza’s Hurt Hackerack: GA-Z87X-OC — i7-4770K — GTX 780 Ti

Hmm so you weren't able to reconfigure ALC898 in Multibeast after disabling onboard graphics in BIOS? Sorry, nothing's jumping out at me. Anybody? Thoughts?

HWMonitor - CPU Heatsink Not Updating

That might be the reading that corresponds to the TMPIN2 sensor, which seems to be disconnected on Gigabyte boards...mine is unchanging at a terrifying 128C, but googling around enough people have the same problem and conclude that it's simply a null reading.

Thanks for responding so quick / Ah curses! Time to back up with CCC and invoke the old gods, I guess!

    Detecting my current Multibeast settings?

Well this is maybe a dumb question but when I updated to 10.9.3 I forgot to save my Multibeast configuration file before building...Is there any way to find these exact settings? There was nothing in /Extra. I thiiiink I can recreate it but obviously I'd rather get it exact now that my build is...

    Windows 7 or 8: non-UI differences?

@Going Bald: Cool, I just now saw this but as it turns out I ended up going with Windows 8.1 and working on it over the weekend...getting close to done, will post soon! :headbang:

    Windows 7 or 8: non-UI differences?

So after a lot of lurking and ruminating, I'm finally pulling the trigger on my animating/editing/gaming Hack Pro build, and there's one more piece of the puzzle: dual-booting in Windows. The Windows SSD will be primarily for gaming, but I'm eager to see if any features / accelerations of...

    Software/Hardware Compatibility on Editing System

I'm also mulling over the ASUS PA279Q---are you looking at an external solution to work in 10-bit color?

    Software/Hardware Compatibility on Editing System

I'm on this fence right now too. TB and future-proofing comes with a steep premium right now...it just hurts to pay for a 4-way SLI mobo if Mac OS X doesn't even support 2-way SLI. :banghead: Pretty sure Boot Camp doesn't permit an external boot drive for Windows. (I'm a first-time builder so...

GTX 770 in Mac Pro (early 2008)

According to the box it requires: "One 8-pin PCI Express power connector or two available 6-pin PCI Express power connectors and one 6-pin PCI Express power connector or two available hard disk power connectors." ...so is there a reason they don't just say three 6-pin PCI Express connectors...

@Dschijn thanks! So is that a question getting adapters or can I use both the booster cables mentioned in this ifixit guide?

GTX 770 in Mac Pro (early 2008)

Hi guys, long-time lurker with very noob questions, thanks for your patience. Not totally sure which section to post in, figured this would be the best place. So I bought the EVGA GTX 770 2GB for a HackPro build (video editing, animation, gaming on Bootcamp) I'm putting together over the next...

2013 Mac Pro Announced at WWDC

That's the question. I could be miles off-base here but I think the price point will be at or even below the current Mac Pros. Apple knows they're losing some market segment by doing away with upgradeability/PCIe slots/etc, so I see the form factor as a way to grow in its place the prosumer-ish...

2013 Mac Pro Announced at WWDC

Pretty cool article about Pixar and The Foundry testing the new Mac Pro blind: http://www.tuaw.com/2013/06/14/apple-let-developers-from-the-foundry-and-pixar-test-out-the-new/ I'm definitely intrigued. I reckon price will make or break this thing, both for me personally and market in general.

2013 Mac Pro Announced at WWDC

Sad to see modability go by the wayside, but it looks like awesome hardware and design to me. Seems like price will be a big factor, especially if it's Made in the U.S. of A.
