Are you using the RadeonVegaLowFansSpeed.kext? I seem to recall some folks talking about some side-effects of using it. All I know is that this kext fixed my fan speed issue in 10.13.5, but I have not yet done any testing with anything graphics intensive.

The above is what I had done: fresh boot yields fan at 40%, 2000RPM, 45 degrees. Note that mine is the air-cooled version of the Vega FE. When I used 10.13.4, I had to do the AMD10000Controller.kext mod -- this worked perfect. Unfortunately, when I do the same mod in 10.13.5, nothing happens...

I have a Vega Frontier as well ---- mine idles at 2000RPM in 10.13.5.

I am considering going back to an Nvidia card until this issue is fixed (if it ever gets fixed --- maybe Apple does not consider it a defect). As it stands now, I cannot work with the system, as the fan noise is very bothersome. Looking around some other forums, it would appear that the issue...

Just out of curiosity, what video cards (AMD or NVidia) can be used in a High Sierra Hackintosh, that do NOT have these fan speed issues?

I just did a check on mine in 10.13.5 --- At idle, I am at 40% fan speed which gives 2001 RPM. Hopefully there will be a fix for 10.13.5 soon.

My update to 10.13.5 went smoothly, except for one thing: the mod to the AMD10000Controller.kext for the Vega FE "do not run fan at 100%" fix, no longer works.

I've been looking into the fix to support the TB3 hot-swapping. What I gather, is that the only way to make this work, involves disconnecting the TB internal cable between the TB card & the motherboard; unfortunately, this means the the TB3 will not work under Windows. Am I understanding this...
