    Disable or hide device

Hi, yes, it's disabled in the BIOS. But it still pops up in IORegistryExplorer and it leads to an unnecessary network device "PCI Serial Adapter(22)". It's nothing to worry about other a cosmetic problem. Cheers, Tim

    Disable or hide device

No one? I know it is possible to hide devices like this: ... Scope (\_SB) { External (RMEM, DeviceObj) Scope (RMEM) { Name (_STA, Zero) } } ... But instead of having a name like "RMEM" like in the example I only have the PCI ID pci8086,8c3d. Happy new year! Tim

    Disable or hide device

Hello, I want to try to hide or "turn off" the KT controller on my Asus Q87T mainboard. Can this be done by an SSDT? The device is IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/pci8086,8c3d@16,3 Cheers, Tim

Real OOB support for mini PCIe half size WLAN adapter

Hi, thanks, but I need a half-size mini PCIe for my board. There's probably a small version of the BCM94360 but it seems to need extra kexts for Mojave (AirportBrcmFixup.kext + Lilu.kext) as mentioned here...

Real OOB support for mini PCIe half size WLAN adapter

Thanks BreBo, AirPortAtheros40.kext works nicely if I put it in /L/E but I can't inject it via Clover and I need WLAN during install. Any truly OOB card you are aware of? Tim

Real OOB support for mini PCIe half size WLAN adapter

Hi, I'm looking for a mini PCIe half size WLAN adapter for my mac mini build. The build is based on an Asus Q87T board and my current Atheros AR9280 stopped working moving to macOS Mojave. Is there any adapter in this format that is supported natively, i.e. without any patches, kexts...

macOS Sierra does not recognize Intel HD4600

Hi, even if you fix the color problems you'll probably not be vey happy with sierra on intel hd4600. There is currently no good fix for the safari video freezes.

[SOLVED] Sierra / High Sierra / Mojave Freezes completely when playing video in Safari - HD4600/4400

AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext is obviously not loaded. It seems your HD4600 is deactivated. The patch discussed earlier is for HD4600 only, i.e. it's not going to help you. I'm using a thin mini itx board in a small macmini'ish case and have no way to test my setup with a discrete GPU. The...

[SOLVED] Sierra / High Sierra / Mojave Freezes completely when playing video in Safari - HD4600/4400

The patch definitely makes a change: no more safari freezes but some side effects like slow video playback after sleep/wake. Are you sure you disabled the integrated GPU in your mainboard's bios? You can easily check if the troublemaker kext is loaded by typing sudo kextstat | grep -i azul in...

    Help for Q87T motherboard

Hi, I got myself this board with an i5 4590T and 16 GB of RAM. WIFI is the Atheros 9280. I run a DSDT free installation based on Clover 3577 and it seems (almost) everything's working: WIFI OOTB Sleep/wake/power nap Power management IGPU acceleration USB3 On-board ethernet DRM protected...

macOS Sierra Public Beta is Now Available

Morning, good to hear that everythings is fine. Does playing movie trailers or movies/TV shows in iTunes (i.e. DRM proteted material) work with the public beta and your setup (especially the DH4600)? KR, Tim

    Updating to El Capitan

Hi, no worries. I think there are many potential hack builders who are not aware of this. Maybe this should be added to some general installation guides. I searched this forum and googled but couldn't find a solution. I'll update here if I find out something... Tim

    Updating to El Capitan

Hi again, I got myself this neat little Asus Q87T board and the i5 4590T. Added 16 GByte of ram and a Samsung 256 GByte SSD (MSata); an Atheros 9280 as WIFI card. The system works perfectly with El Capitan and it seems all "basic" functions like sleep/wake, power management (with SSDT), power...

    Updating to El Capitan

Thanks a lot for the instant reply and your excellent advice. I will go for the power saving 4570T CPU and the same board. Audio and WIFI is not a big deal for me since I have wired ethernet and a USB audio dongle that works perfectly on my current hack. Stability is an issue and I want to have...

    Updating to El Capitan

Hi Haravikk, I saw you're running an Asus Q87T. I'm planning a similar build with either this Asus board or the Gigabyte equivalent. Did you manage to install El Capitan? How did you fix the sleep/wake issue? Cheers, Tim

    Thin mini ITX board

Morning neil, thanks, I appreciate your advice. It seems impossible to get one of these Skylake thin mini ITX mother boards in Europe and importing them from USA is quite expensive. The H87TN from Gigabyte is available and I thought I could combine it with the low power two core version of the...

    Thin mini ITX board

Hi, inspired by woodoodm's build with an Asus H81T board (http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/small-size-build-with-thin-mini-itx-asus-h81t-mainboard-very-simple-installation.180647) I'd like to make a similar build but instead based on Gigabyte's H87TN board. The Asus seems OK and pretty...

How do I use HDD and SSD at the same time?

Hi, that's rather easy. I have OSX and a couple off Apps on my SSD and the user home folders with all the iPhoto and iTunes files on a HDD. The SSD is connected to sata0, the HDD to sata1; SSD is the primary boot device. When I formatted the HDD i named it "Homes" so it gets mounted on...
