So as an update and FYI for anyone looking into this particular card. I went and purchased a SIIG DP FireWire 800 3 port PCIe and it works. Hot swap and sleep works as intended.
So my build seems to be going pretty well. Only thing really left to test is dual monitor from integrated graphics.
I did nothing specific to get it working. In system report it showed max firewire speed 800 but no details on the card.
I purchased this card because it was said to 100% compatible. Hmmm...
