Hi all, as of now I'm using a RX 5700 XT which is supported by macOS OOB. I have not needed to do any modifications, make SSDT etc.
I will soon change to a 6900 XTXH variant and as I have understood I have two options: Flash BIOS or spoof device id to make it work. As I will use that card for...
I recommend that you follow the guide yourself and learn it. You can get Big Sur up and running relatively fast. This is something you will benefit greatly from in the long run! :) Dortania got everything you need.
I suggest you try Opencore. It will take you some hours or maybe a day to carefully read up and go trough the setup process, but god damn, it is so much better. Im SO glad i ditched Clover!
However, you can probaly boot with almost a the default config.
There are some strangeness here I dont understand, but after some "magical" reboots everything works and seem to be just as normal as it was with the F5 BIOS.
I'm using OC 0.57.
The only issue seem to be the CFG-Lock. I can boot if I enable AppleCpuPmCfgLock and AppleXcpmCfgLock under Kernel -> Quirks. Disabling CFG-Lock manually does not work.
So instead of doing that, I checked tested the VerifyMsrE2.efi file to check whether I can disable...
Edit: I went trough most of (if not all?) of the recommended bios settings from OC guide as you said (https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Desktop-Guide/), and I disabled MSR (https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Desktop-Guide/extras/msr-lock.html) with kernel quirks and was able to boot into...
Hey, earlier I tried to upgrade my BIOS but my machine did not wanna boot at all. I tried playing with differnt bios settings etc without any luck. I managed to find a tool from Intel on a sketchy site that worked with Windows and allowed me to downgrade the bios from F2X to F5 so I could boot...
Hey, no, I don't have any issues at all. I just increased the performance in Geekbench with around 20k, which might be a performance improvement you want https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/amd-radeon-performance-enhanced-ssdt.296555/post-2112538
Well, WOW. Noticed an increase of around 20k both on OpenCL and Metal on iMac 17,1. I copied the SSDT from https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/amd-radeon-navi-gpu.264399/post-2103382 and added it to OpenCore. Already got the WCG but I did not install the dummy kext.
# / Before SSDT / After...
I haven't been able to upgrade my OS from High Sierra due to Nvidia, so this christmas I bought myself a 5700 XT Nitro+ so I could upgrade. I decided to try Opencore (OC) as this seem to be the future for Hackintosh. I haven't tested everything yet, but a lot works OOB. I basically use this...
Seems that I successfully updated from 13.10.5 to 13.10.6. I'm using Clover 4617 and the new AptioMemoryFix-64.efi and ApfsDriverLoader-64.efi. Everything seem to be "normal" apart from the login screen which don't look so nice anymore. However, I can login as usual.
I have been affected by lag issues with the nvidia driver and have been using 25.106 since that worked "ok". Earlier today I installed Lilu and NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext_10.13.4_Lag_Fix
Based on preliminary testing I can say that my lag issues are GONE!! :) Im so happy now!
