Thanks for the tip, and I think you're right. My plan is swapping the direction of the back fan. Hopefully the 80mm will be enough and I'll try it out for a few days with that, but if not I'll definitely be cutting out for a 120mm.
Just going for the case mod right now. I do a lot of gaming on PC that I need windows for.
I do have a semi-old MSI board and Intel I5 chip. I'll defeinitely be trying to put OSX on that, but as I'm on a budget I'm tackling this one project at a time. I'm using this first one as a test run...
Normally I don't like the painted G5's, but this is very clean. I think the powder coating makes a world of a difference versus a spray can. How much did it cost if you don't mind my asking?
Also, you thinking of adding any LED's to it? I think white LED's on a white case is my favorite...
So this is the first computer I've ever built or modded. For the past few years I've used a computer that I bought off craigslist, and when the power supply faulted and messed up my mobo, I decided to build my own. Luckily my GPU, Ram and HD's were ok. After seeing some G5 mods, I found this...
Also, does anbody know where to buy a cord like this in the U.S.?
Nevermind, found it. Just google C14 to C13 cord and newegg, tigerdirect or amazon have 'em.
Awesome, thanks guys!
I'm definitely using it to keep my PSU in place on the bottom of my case, and the HD tray and disc drive in place on the top shelf.
So I'm 90% finished with my mod, and am just figuring out how to mount my radiator and hdd tray. I've seen a lot of people over at overclock use velcro as it is cheap, easy, dampens sound, and is easily re-movable. Just curious if anybody has used it in their G5 case mod?
I really like the look of that mobo tray. Very clean build!
How's the cooling on this setup? I just finished my case and am figruing out a layout for the internals right now and was going to do something very similar to this.
For anyone who can't read the text, from top left going clockwise it reads:
Original HDD Tray (w/ 2 40mm fans)
80mm Fan on rear
Cooler Master Hydroseries H55 in bottom-front
How did you guys manage to remove the C-Clip? That's the only thing hindering me from finally getting my G5 fully deconstructed and for the life of me I can't get it off.
