BIOS update 6SCN54WW bricked my Lenovo as a hackintosh.
I got it back working, pretty much in exactly a week, as I estimated in my first post. I don't know why the fix is working, which is not how I like to "fix" things.
Is there anyone else who is still using a Lenovo V330-15IKB with macOS...
I know as much so when it's something that can be actually fixed by Disk Utilities. And then, there's the frequent random appearance that seems to be an OS quirk that shows up on healthy volumes. If I were the only one getting it, I would fix my drive, yes.
Previously working configuration: OpenCore 0.7.6, Monterey 12.1, BIOS not sure but applied an update once after buying the Lenovo in late 2019.
The randomly showing "Volume Hash Mismatch" alert was getting annoying, so I thought updating BIOS, OC, Monterey, and everything might fix that.
The...
I've been slowly restoring my kexts, and CtlnaAHCIPort.kext is probably the problem. I don't know if I ever needed it, but it's definitely unneeded in Monterey on my hardware.
MinDate and MinVersion, I think, only make volumes with older macOSes not show up in the OpenCore boot selection...
I have a Lenovo with the exact same CPU (i7-8550u). I had the exact same problem (only boot drive visible regardless of interface) until I disabled a whole bunch of kexts. I have all drives (SATA, NVMe, and USB) visible in Monterey now. I don't want to go through the tedious task of finding out...
I can't get the Lenovo to wake from sleep in Windows or Linux. I've never trusted a hackintosh to wake from sleep. Or was it hibernate that doesn't work?
I'm going to be upgrading my Lenovo to Big Sur and OpenCore 0.6.4 this weekend.
But VoodooI2C causes a kernel panic during boot in Big Sur, so I have to use a USB mouse or Bluetooth trackpad.
I wonder if the the Lenovo V330-15IKB has gotten old, and everyone's moved on? But it's also unbecoming to have this thread in the Mojave section when we're really all using Catalina.
I'm not going back to Clover. I think OpenCore is mature enough that this is what you want to be using from now...
The USB HDD I've been using for Time Machine spontaneously got corrupted, so I thought it was a good cue to use it as a test drive for OpenCore.
The OpenCore documentation is right. "It's not difficult. It only takes time." It's not productive time, though. It's a time sink only meant for a...
hansdiether,
I haven't tried external video or Sidecar. I only have a 2k monitor for the desktop and a 1080p TV.
I'll happier getting the trackpad to work. Bluetooth is a distant second, but native WiFi isn't going to happen.
I'm glad you were able to figure it out. We need to manually specify the memory configuration in Clover's config.plist if we have more than 8 GB memory (or more than one memory module idk).
This is what I have in the SMBIOS page. I had to use Windows to find out the physical RAM...
Hi, I'm glad to see there's recent activity in this thread (there seems to be several Lenovo V330 threads here, though). Lenovo had a $450 doorbuster for the V330 so this is my new laptop. The keyboard is sure worse than HP. A Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad might be good future accessories...
I'm guessing a standalone macOS Catalina 10.15.0 Supplemental Update will not be released, so you will need to download the Catalina installer that has the supplemental update rolled in.
macOS X 10.15 Catalina finally borked 32-bit apps and drivers, so the official ASUS driver no longer works.
Wireless-USB-Adapter-Clover from https://github.com/chris1111/Wireless-USB-Adapter-Clover works, so that's what I switched to. It's 64-bits, so I think I'll be able to use my USB-AC53...
Hi, I can put up a text description of my configuration. That's easier than writing up a step-by-step (and presumably you know what to do if you know the configuration).
Clover config.plist, start with blank and fill in these:
Devices -> USB -> FixOwnership -> ✓
Devices -> Audio -> Inject -> 3...
Oh, hi. It's been so smooth on Mojave that I forgot. A new system update just came out, so it's perfect timing to install from scratch on a test drive and document each step.
I noticed iMessage and FaceTime weren't working after updating to macOS 10.14.2 myself, but I updated Clover and all kexts in before the actual 10.14.2 update. I went back to an older backup EFI, and iMessage and FaceTime both work again.
It'll be a pain to pinpoint if Clover or a kext is...
