I know iMovie is for noobs, but that indeed is what I am. I was primarily commenting on export times, not features.
I tried out DaVinci Resolve on a MacBook Air and to my surprise 1) it worked and 2) it exported just as fast as iMovie. I suspect it was using the same Apple provided encoder as...
I realize that I'm late to the party, but I thought I'd share my (limited) experience editing with Davinci Resolve and iMovie. iMovie is a strange beast. It runs as fast on MacBook Air (dual core i7 @ 2.2Ghz) as my Hackintosh (6 core Xeon @ 2.9 Ghz + Radeon RX 580.) I think this is because Apple...
So I've got OS X Mojave installed on my T5500. After messing around with High Sierra (I thought it would be most compatible) for a day or so, I went ahead and installed Mojave. Unlike High Sierra, the Unibeast installer worked the first time without any problems. But I had to experiment some to...
@phrozenpenguin It looks exactly like this one I found on Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075G3279T/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
Note to mods: If there's a rule against posting Amazon links, please delete.
I am trying to get my RX 580 to work in a Dell Precision T5500 with High Sierra. I have managed to get it working with a GTX 1050 Ti with acceleration, but whenever I try to boot with the 580 I get a blank screen (signal is present, just no image.) After I successfully installed the 1050 Ti, I...
I recently upgraded to High Sierra and was interested to see what Siri can do. Unfortunately, a lot of her abilities are tied to your location. (Me: Hey Siri, what's the weather like? Siri: I don't know where you are. Turn on your wifi, bro.) Since my Hack has no wifi, I'm kind of SOL. Is there...
Thanks for the reply. Kind of tough to find other folks using El Cap, because most people here seem to like the bleeding edge. But any way I installed 2017-004 and the system successfully booted up. So it works fine with an HP Probook 6460b and El Cap.
Any other issues with this update besides the usual Nvidia problems? I'm using Intel graphics, so no worries there, but I want to make sure my install doesn't get bricked.
I've tried multiple times to try and boot my T5500 w/ 1050Ti with a High Sierra legacy boot stick, but it kernel panics regardless of which boot options I try (tried PCIRootUID=1, PCIRootUID=4, nv_disable=1 and nvda_drv=1) No matter which I choose, it kernel panics after spending 4 or 5 minutes...
I followed the steps here- https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-hp-probook-elitebook-zbook-using-clover-uefi-hotpatch-10-11.189416/
My 6460b is now running almost perfectly, except no audio. System Report shows that audio is present with an Audio ID of 18, and a few different inputs and...
So I've managed to get El Cap running on an HP Probook 6460b. It's survived one kernel update, but I'm anxious about future updates. What backup strategy are most of you using? How would you recover if an update bricked your OS X install?
In the past, on desktops, I would use a combination of...
I'm still using Chameleon on my desktop, believe it or not, so this method wouldn't work for me. I've also had zero luck using FakePCIID when I did try Clover out, but this is probably due to a lack of understanding on my part.
Is there any particular place in Clover's config.plist that your...
I see you've got a ProBook. Have you tried it on that laptop, or have you already upgraded to Sierra? I'm most nervous about my Probook 6460b on El Cap.
Interesting that it works for you and not others. It seems you have an older chipset (H87) whereas the others have newer chipsets (Z97 and Z170.) Maybe this only works on 7- and 8- series chipsets.
To finalize this 6460b as a Hackbook Pro, I went on eBay and purchased the only WiFi chipset known to pass the BIOS whitelist AND be OS X compatible. The major point is that I now have WiFi, and I now no longer have to tether my iPhone or use an Ethernet-to-wifi bridge to connect. The downside...
