Im having trouble with my 6870. The fan is too loud in both bootcamp/windows and lion.
I tried flashing the bios and the fan seems to behave accordingly in dos but as soon as
I boot into either windows or lion the fan speeds upto about 50%.
Does anyone have any info that may help...
This also happens in windows.
While in DOS fans appear to follow the speed I instructed but when Windows loads fans spin upto about 50%.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This seems to work but as soon as I get to the login screen for lion
the gfx card revs up the fan regardless of bios settings.
Know what might be the issue?

Thats good to know.
When rendering the cpu is likely to be near 100% for prolonged times
but dont intend to have much else, ie dvd drive, usb powered peripherals
pci card.

Im hoping to build a custo mac mini with the following case:

I will be using it for general computing but also hoping to use
it to render 3d when im working on my main machine.
The limitation with this case is that it requires a pico psu...

I built a:
i7 950 stock
12 gig corsair domiator 1600 ram
120gb ocz vertex drive
2tb drive
sapphire 4870 1gb
gigabyte x58a ud3r
I ran geekbench and got roughly 8800
Just want to make sure cpu, memory etc.. are at running optimally.
Would it be an idea to run the same...

I have just built my first Hackintosh and so pleased with the results so far.
One thing im unsure of is if it is running at its full potential.
I will be editing and rendering down the line and unsure at the moment
of how to test if it is setup optimally.
