Asus X79 Rampage IV Extreme | Core i7-3930K (Successful)

I got it working on my Sabertooth X79 (which I've set up with Rampage guides in the past). -v cpus=1 npci=0x3000 PCIRootUID=0 GraphicsEnabler=No It froze with an "X" icon when loading the installer initially, but I unplugged all USB accessories, then switched off my ethernet/onboard...

    bitdoctor's MiniMacPro Build: intel Core i7-3770 - Gigabyte GA-H77N-WIFI - HD 4000 - 16 GB - 256 GB

I'm about to make this build to bring on the road with me...anyone tried it with the 4770K? Would that pose any problems that I'm unaware of (I believe the 4xxx use less power than 3xxx unless I'm mistaken)? Thanks in advance & I greatly appreciate your detailed write-up bitdoctor!

    Erik's 2013 Hack Pro: Asus Sabertooth X79 - i7 4930k - 32GB 1866 Ram

Hey Samo, wish I could help you, but I'm not sure why those bootflags wouldn't work for you. Is that power management error the final thing you see before it shuts off? Maybe try disabling Turbo mode in the Bios. Also try adding this flag: darkwake=0 I may be wrong, but I think that one has...

[Success] Robbies' Asus Sabertooth x79, i7-4930K, MSI GTX 780 Dual-Boot Hacktintosh

For those wondering about audio, for $30 you can add it painlessly to this build with a Behringer USB interface: http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-UCA222-U-Control-Ultra-Low-Downloadable/dp/B0023BYDHK/ I'm running the same build (except using GTX 770) and the crackling goes away as soon as...

[Help!] Crackly, janky Audio on OSX Mavericks, Sabertooth x79, i7 4930k, GTX 780 - on USB audio AND

For audio, I strongly recommend one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-UCA222-U-Control-Ultra-Low-Downloadable/dp/B0023BYDHK/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1403912617&sr=1-1&keywords=behringer+audio+interface+usb I don't bother with Hackintosh onboard audio...I upgrade my...

    10.9.2 on Sabertooth x79 Core i7 3930k with Overclock [GUIDE / ADVICE / FILES]

EDIT: Reinstalled and it now runs normal. I omitted FakeSMC the first time and wonder if that could have been the issue? Maybe just a fluke. I've updated this build (mostly the same) with a 4930K and now my temps are 10 degrees hotter (but 5 degrees cooler in Windows 7). Could the absence of...

    Erik's 2013 Hack Pro: Asus Sabertooth X79 - i7 4930k - 32GB 1866 Ram

I'm idling at around 52 degrees C @ 4.1Ghz OC. Windows Idles much cooler. Anyone know what could be the cause? My 3930K was idling about 10 degrees cooler than this. EDIT: Reinstalled, now idling @ 35. This time I added FakeSMC (which I mistakingly thought it said not to in the instructions)

    Erik's 2013 Hack Pro: Asus Sabertooth X79 - i7 4930k - 32GB 1866 Ram

Thanks for the write-up Erik. I'm putting together a similar build with dual GPUs. Do I still need to patch the Kernel if I just downloaded the latest version of Mavericks from the App Store (I'm assuming they've updated the file to 10.9.3)? ***EDIT: You don't need to patch the Kernel w/ the...

    i7-4930K - Asus Rampage IV Extreme - 32GB RAM - GTX 770 4GB [Success!!]

I'm struggling to find a R4E at a decent price. I'm wondering if I should stick to my Sabertooth X79. Anyone else using that board with this setup? AFIK people are using the Black edition with the 4930K. Also, if I'm using dual 770s, is my 750w power supply enough or should I upgrade?

    i7-4930K - Asus Rampage IV Extreme - 32GB RAM - GTX 770 4GB [Success!!]

Gotcha, I owe it to the people of this forum to try something new & provide some knowledge anyway...I'll get the 770s & report back here (should have it built Thurs/Fri).

    i7-4930K - Asus Rampage IV Extreme - 32GB RAM - GTX 770 4GB [Success!!]

Thanks Shilohh...I'm a little nervous about going solo on the dual 770s, so I may get the Titan Black since others are running it successfully on this build. I'll have my parts delivered by Thursday, so I'll post my findings if I go with 2x770. Thanks again for all of your help.

    i7-4930K - Asus Rampage IV Extreme - 32GB RAM - GTX 770 4GB [Success!!]

Shilohh, thank you so much for the write up! For those of you with dual 770s, was the setup any different to Shilohh's explanation? How satisfied are you with the 770x2 performance? I almost bought a 6-core Mac Pro, but I feel like I could go with this rig and do so much more with the extra cash!

    10.9.2 on Sabertooth x79 Core i7 3930k with Overclock [GUIDE / ADVICE / FILES]

Ok, great info. Thanks again Dave. I have mine clocked @ 4GHz with a memory frequency drop, but it's stable, clocking an extra 3,000+ in Geekbench, and I'm seeing a negligible rise in CPU temp. I'll just stick with what I have! best

    10.9.2 on Sabertooth x79 Core i7 3930k with Overclock [GUIDE / ADVICE / FILES]

Thanks Dave, got that working after I copied/pasted from my old ML plist. The only issue I'm having now is an attempt at light overclocking. I'm only trying to clock @ about 4 - 4.2GHz, but can't seem to do so successfully without dropping the frequency of my RAM. I have 1600 MHz RAM, but...

    10.9.2 on Sabertooth x79 Core i7 3930k with Overclock [GUIDE / ADVICE / FILES]

Unfortunately that didn't work. I tried with & without the Yes string...still get the PCI error message without entering npci=0x2000 Any thing I might be doing wrong? Is there a specific place it needs to be entered in the chameleon file, or maybe another command that goes with it? Thanks in...

    10.9.2 on Sabertooth x79 Core i7 3930k with Overclock [GUIDE / ADVICE / FILES]

Ok great, thank you so much! So do I just need to add the following to org.chameleon.Boot.plist; <key>npci=0x2000</key> <string>Yes</string> Sorry for my naivety, I'm somewhat of a noob.

    10.9.2 on Sabertooth x79 Core i7 3930k with Overclock [GUIDE / ADVICE / FILES]

First off Dave, thank you so much for the guide. This is the first time to get Mavericks up & running with on & off attempts since December. I have one small issue. I can only start up by using the npci=0x2000 command. Does the PCI Root ID Fix in MultiBeast correct that, or something else...

    Asus X79 Sabertooth | Core i7-3960x (Successful)
