OS X El Capitan Public Beta 2 is Now Available

Not sure. Honestly I gave up on the audio chase a while ago and just got myself a pair of USB speakers. For my hackintosh it's just easier than continuously keeping the onboard audio patched and working.

OS X El Capitan Public Beta 2 is Now Available

Sure thing. I basically used the instructions posted by 5cl3m4x5 here. Start by booting into single user mode by using the -s flag. You should end up logged in as root with a bash command prompt. First mount the boot drive by running: mount -uw / Then navigate to your kexts folder. You...

OS X El Capitan Public Beta 2 is Now Available

Thanks everyone! Booting into single-user mode and copying the kexts over to S/L/E worked perfectly.

OS X El Capitan Public Beta 2 is Now Available

I'm getting a non-boot after installing the update as well. I've generally had great experiences updating "natively" using Clover on Yosemite but this one failed for me. Same as rgardner, cannot safe boot, can't boot to recovery, and can't boot using external thumb drive. Nothing interesting...

    Gray screen spinning beach ball

Thanks all. I finally got it to boot by copying my Clover config from my working Yosemite installation and removing the boot args (kext-dev-mode=1 and GraphicsEnabler=Yes). I think GraphicsEnabler was the issue.

    Gray screen spinning beach ball

Hi all, Is anyone else getting stuck at a gray screen with a spinning beach ball cursor during clover boot? I've been running a very stable Yosemite installation with Clover for the last few months. No issues. I decided to do a clean install for El Cap and I cannot seem to get to the...

    How to Fix iMessage

Update: I left my computer off overnight and today when I turned it on, all of my iMessages from the past few days filled in and everything started working again normally. So either it was just a timing thing (some glitch on apple's side that they recently ironed out) or giving the hack some...

    How to Fix iMessage

I just wanted to add that I'm getting the same symptoms as well (red contact names, can send SMS but not iMessage) since 5/15. I gave it a couple of days hoping that it was just a hiccup on Apple's side but that doesn't appear to be the case. It's strange because I can completely sign out/sign...

AppleUSBUHCI issue: won't boot after soft reset

Figured it out! :D Needed to install the USB3 kexts (in MultiBeast) even though I have USB3 disabled in BIOS. Boots perfectly now.

AppleUSBUHCI issue: won't boot after soft reset

Hi all, I just updated my GA-H55N-USB3 to Lion (used to be running SL) using a clean install via UniBeast. I got everything working fine, save for one problem: Whenever I do a "soft restart", the system fails to boot. It gets caught in an infinite loop spitting out the message: AppleUSBUHCI...

[SOLVED]iMessage for Mac doesn't work with a Hackintosh?

Thanks for the tip! That got me pointed in the right direction, and now I've got messages working perfectly! :D For future reference, this is what worked for me: Update to the latest Chimera (1.7.0) - didn't fix the problem, but good to have[/*:m:xj207j4d] Re-run the latest RTL81xx driver...

[SOLVED]iMessage for Mac doesn't work with a Hackintosh?

The new "Messages" app (iMessage for Mac) is available for 10.7.3 here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/mountain-li ... ages-beta/ However, it doesn't appear to work on my hackintosh. It works fine on my Macbook Pro. On my hack pro however, I get an error during the registration process (the setup...

Suddenly getting "still waiting for root device" issue

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately no luck :( Hmm... I can't find anything amiss in the bios. I even tried disconnecting all the drives except for the one with Lion and rerunning CustomBeast. Shouldn't rerunning CustomBeast fix these kinds of issues since it reinstalls Chimera? Or am I...

Suddenly getting "still waiting for root device" issue

Hi all, I can't seem to figure out what's going on here. I've been running 10.7.2 on my GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 for a while now. Installed via UniBeast and CustomBeast. Everything runs smooth as silk with no problems whatsoever... until suddenly after a restart, it won't boot. It just hangs. Booting...

Does anyone plan to buy a Z68 board ?

I would if there was a reason to but so far I don't see the advantage. I would rather go with a board that is much more well-tested and known to work 100% than gamble on a Z68 board that might not.

    iMac 10.6.8 update

Strange, but that brings up and interesting question... Can you update the new iMacs to 10.6.7? If so, shouldn't there be a custom 10.6.7 update for the SB iMacs (like with the 2011 MBPs)?

What kinds of changes are we expecting (or hoping) this to bring to the x86 community?
