I know this thread is old but I stumbled over it when looking for another thing, just in case anyone is wondering, the activity monitor won't show more than 4 cores/threads so if you have a Quad Core with Hyper Threading (such as the i7 processor like the 875), a Hexa Core or a Octo core (4+...
Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May)
It seems like there's no framebuffer for 4 screens on the 6870 (correct me if I'm wrong) using two dp connector and two DVI. Is it possible to create a new framebuffer to match the card so all 4 screens are usable with a framebuffer like in...
Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May)
After further investigation It seems like no one is getting all 4 monitors to work with a framebuffer, am I right? Or have anyone succeeded in using 4 monitors with a framebuffer so that DVD-Player, Geekbench, Steam and such works?
Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May)
As my card will only work with 2 displays with graphics enabler on I wanted to try some different framebuffers. I've started testing but I seem to get this message a lot
ATI card POSTed, reading VBIOS from legacy space
Memory allocation...
Re: Guide - New ATI Kexts from iMac 10.6.7 Update - 5XXX/6XXX
I noticed one problem when I connected my tv yesterday. I couldn't get it to pixelmap correctly, neither in Windows or under OSX but today I changed DVI port on my secondary monitor and tv because bios showed up first on the TV and...
Re: the_gael's G5 Case Mod - G5 Hac Pro
Would you care to share the Apple Chimera theme? I'm looking for something like that myself and would be grateful.
For me iBoot seems to be working perfectly fine but as soon I try to enter OS X installer my GPU fan goes max and my screen goes to sleep, is this a problem with the fact that I'm using USB (tried both with USB and a harddrive connected via SATA and the same problem using both). It's quite...
I've already got two 6870 cards, nvidia isn't much of an option as I need at least 4 monitors for my work and with Nvidia I'll have to use twice as many cards to get that setup as I can't put 4 monitors on one nvidia card. Also waiting out support for the 69** series isn't an option. I'm...
I currently built my hackint0sh for OS X compatibility and therefor made the choice to pick up an 6870 however lets say I'd want to pack some real gaming performance into the same rig (i7 2600k and 16GB ram otherwise so it's pretty speedy) so I don't need to have one OS X rig and one gaming rig...
I have to say that I find this mod amazing, easily the best one I've seen and it's a huge inspiration for my mod. And gouedi, thanks for the consultation over pm; it's always nice to have someone with experience to ask about things.
They're a bit more expensive in Sweden however it's not a lot of money, still I'm considering ditching the DVD as I never use it, I've had my MacBook Pro without an DVD-unit for almost a year now without problems. So yeah I'll see what I'll do.
See how that could be problem but I will probably cut the cables so I won't have much spare cable so cables blocking airflow will most likely not be a problem for me, I'm considering replacing all the sleeving as well with white and blue sleeving, I've seen some people doing this and it looks sexy.
My plan is to butch the old PSU and use the same casing for the new PSU however the PSU fan (which is a 120mm fan) won't fit so I'll probably use the ones already mounted on the G5 psu, the PSU is a 550W Corsair. So my question is should I run those fans on 12v or is 7 or 5v enough, I want...
Problem is that at this moment I've only got one spare ATX Motherboard which wouldn't have been a problem if it weren't because Asus moved one of the mount points from the ATX-position to a m-ATX position because of the way they've placed the soundchip and on top of that the mobo is all crooked...
To bad it's not to scale, would certainly be nice to find some already scaled for printing on A4, I used to have one of them sheets which I've got from an Fractal case but I ain't got it any more.
My G5 seems to be slightly different from many other G5s, maybe because it's a first generation single CPU.
However I screwed all the short standoffs to the mobo and layed down the mobo in the case where I want to have the mobo when I'm done, then I proceeded to put a GPU in the top PCI-E slot...
I'm thinking about using the original standoffs and just glue them in the atx positions with epoxy and just grind them down a few mm so that they're the right hight for the GPU.
What do you think about that?
I've just started tearing everything out of my G5 case in preparation for my G5 mod, I'm almost done with the tear down however I'm stuck with what's probably the last part and that is the metal plate which separates the mobo, etc part from the part with the hdd-bay, dvd and such. I will have to...
