Hey guys! Just assembled my first Hackintosh in a bit over a year...here is the parts list. CPU: Intel Core i3-4330 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard Video Card: PNY GeForce GTX 760 2GB Enthusiast Edition Video Card Memory: G.Skill...

    [Full Build Compatibility] GA-B85N

Hey all! I was just wondering whether the Gigabyte B85N (mITX) would be compatible for hackintosh. I know Gigabyte boards are the best for this, so I suspect it would be but with a bit of tinkering? The other relevant parts in this build will be the i5 4430 and an R9 290/7970 GHz edition. Which...

HELP! Black Boot Screen with Horizontal Hyphen at the Top Left!

Hey all. I am in distress. Yesterday, literally, my computer was working perfectly-I could switch between my Mac OS SSD and my Windows OS SSD. I have done so MANY times over the past week without any problems. But, when I tried to today, it would just go to the black screen with the hyphen at...

    DAW setup

Dont buy the regular 840. The difference between that and the pro is the write speed, and it's worth the upgrade to the pro. For me, since I store a lot of games on my ssd, I went wit a 256 because 128 wouldn't be enough. Also, with smaller ssd sizes, there Erie also some performance decreases.

Home Studio Build advice for i7 3770k cpu

Other than the Thunderbolt connectors, the UD5H has more Sata connections, and has ultra durable 4. The UP5 TH has ultra durable 5, but i dont think this will make a difference...they are both VERY compatible, but the only reason you see the UD5H more commonly used is most people don't want to...

    This Setup?

1: NH-D14 comes with a tube of thermal paste. DON'T PUT TOO MUCH ON! Corsair water coolers come with it preapplied-to give you an idea of about how much you want to put on, look at the preapplied stuff-it's VERY little. 2: Motherboards that don't show up on the Tonymacx86 DSDT database are...

My first Hackintosh build - What do you think?

Noctua NH-D14 is equivalent to the H100i with upgraded fans in terms of performance and acoustics. It is NOT compatible with your ram, however...Corsair's new H90 looks to be a really nice closed loop water cooler, the pump is better and quieter, and the read is thinner yet performs almost the...

Recording Studio Hack - Custo Mac Pro Rackmounted

I think that for recording audio, write speeds will be pretty important. This is why I'd recommend you go with the 840 Pro over the regular 840 - the difference is the write speeds.

Quad channel RAM in customac Pro

Nope, I think you are right...I was just going of previous assumptions. In any case, a quad channel will perform the same way as two dual channel kits in a Z77. Two dual channel kits cost less than one quad channel(even if its just 99C =)). Dual channel will work.

    This Setup?

Juicy. Asus looks like a very good manafacturer for monitors. Sadly, parents have told me that I have made enough "computer" purchases for now...so no new monitors for me =(

    x79 build verification pls

Hmmm...fair enough. I have no personal experience with X79, but there are a FEW builds in the sections down below. X79 does "work", but a lot of features won't...do your research and read : http://www.tonymacx86.com/golden-builds/ http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-builds/ Look for X79 builds...

Quad channel RAM in customac Pro

If you use a Z77 board, a quad channel will work, but two dual channel kits will be a bit faster because they match the architecture of the board. You can use any DDR3 RAM, by default the max is 1600 so most people get that. It isn't that necessary to overclock ram.

    i3, i5, or i7?

^Quite, there ARE large performance gaps between the three, but only in some specific areas. In general, if you just want to build a hackintosh to use the mac os and not do anything else, like game/edit, an i3 would be fine. If you want a balance, i.e. some gaming and low end editing but on a...

    High-Spec 'CustoMac Pro'

For the GPU: You generally want about 1gb of GDDR5(VRAM) per screen @60Hz @1080p. If you aren't going to go more than two screens, a 2gb is perfect. For the manufacturer, EVGA makes cheap, reference cards. These are called reference because they are basic-other companies add things, like better...
