This seems to have solved my problem. After entering this kernel flag, I haven't had an issue waking displays up from sleep.

Curious if you've fixed this problem. I'm having a similar issue on my machine where, when I leave the computer for a long period of time (say, overnight), the displays will not wake up and USB power dies.

Ended up buying an eSATA-USB3 cable to connect my RAID backup. Had trouble booting and mounting the drives. Caused the same problems that I had when I had the drives connected eSATA-eSATA. Don't know why this is. Anyhow, I've got the RAID backup connected over USB2 right now and...

Have you had any problems with Thunderbolt and eSATA external drive conflicts? I have basically the same build as you, and when Thunderbolt drives are connected, my external eSATA drives won't mount.
