Can't create bootloader for Lion on usb drive

I did as you asked. Downloaded a new copy of Lion, no problems there. I also downloaded a new copy of unibeast, ran it, and fail.

Can't create bootloader for Lion on usb drive

So, yet another fail. This time I inserted the usb drive into the front panel usb port. I formatted the drive with two partitions. The first named USB was assigned 8 gb and the other simply named empty box was given the rest. I downloaded another copy of unibeast for lion 1.70. I created a new...

Can't create bootloader for Lion on usb drive

Thanks for the help. The mac pro model is from december of 2011. I think the ports are all usb 2. I'll double check. The first usb drive i tried to use was an 8 gb drive. When i partitioned it, the final volume size was 7.8 gb using the MBR selection. I thought that might have been the...

Can't create bootloader for Lion on usb drive

Using an Intel Core i7 3930k. Don't know why my profile says that. Regardless, that's not even close to the problem yet. I can't even get unibeast to load osx onto the usb drive. I'm using a mac pro with snow leopard to try to run the usb install and I can't even get it to show the Mac App...

Can't create bootloader for Lion on usb drive

Using this guide: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/10/unibeast-install-mac-os-x-lion-using.html I've been trying to load Lion onto my usb drive using unibeast for lion 1.7 I get to step 16, but unibeast doesn't offer the option to check "Mac App Store "Install Mac OS X Lion" App". It just...

Asus X79 Rampage IV Extreme | Core i7-3930K (Successful)

Hey guys, I'm not sure where to start asking, but you look like you've got a lot of this locked down. For starters, my specs: - asus p9x79 pro - core i7 3930k I'm still in build out phase of my rig, but am starting to put together what to do for loading up the os's. I plan to have windows 7...

    Power Supply Fail

Thanks for hanging in there with me kiwi. I'll try that tomorrow and post up what happens. I think though if it still doesn't work, I'll get another psu and do minimal mods along the lines of what rickyreall84 did. Man, I feel like I was so close too.

    Power Supply Fail

Thanks for replying. I've basically done all the same at this point except for the case socket which I had resoldered to the g5, which maybe the problem at this point. But also too, I have yet to put a load on the psu with all the mods in place, which I will try next.

    Tuf Love G5

Nope. I resoldered the incoming power lines to the g5 case socket and got rid of the on/off switch. Maybe that's what it is. I think I need to buy a new psu at this point and try it again.

    Tuf Love G5

Great job! I'd love to know more about your power supply modifications. I'm having issues with my psu in that it seems to shutting off due to a short or a ground fault, or something. I've posting a thread here http://www.tonymacx86.com/powermac-g5/89381-power-supply-fail.html looking for...

    Power Supply Fail

Thanks for your answers everyone. So, the latest is that I cut away the floor of the original antec case and remounted the main board back to it. I noticed that it had a raised metal pad that was contacting a portion of the board that had a spongy/rubbery material bonded to it which was...

    Power Supply Fail

The part you are referring that is sloping down, do you mean the aux power connectors? If yes, that board is free floating with no contacts anything. As to shorts, that original setup had the three pcb's all bolted to the original housing. I have metal standoffs on the horizontal/main board...

    Power Supply Fail

Not totally sure which forum is most appropriate for this, but since I'm doing a G5 mod I thought I'd try here first. I've followed eelhead and a few others' efforts at hiding the power supply into the G5 power supply housing. I bought an Antec 850 High Current Pro modular power supply only to...

Graphics card for machine with Windows and OSX

So, I found the wiki page for various graphics cards that have been tested and the quadro 4000 is on there as being compatible. But I've noticed on nvidia's website that the have the same card geared toward the different os's. At this point I'm wondering if a card geared toward osx will have...

Graphics card for machine with Windows and OSX

So, I want to build a hackintosh. I like the 2012 pro build configuration list, a lot, except for one element - graphics card. I really need to run Solidworks, which is Windows only, and apparently only likes quadro cards from Nvidia or firegl or firepro from ATI. I also need to run Rhino...
