    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

At the rate this thread is going, I'm fully expecting CaseySJ to reverse engineer the T2 chip and provide instructions for how we can wire it in ourselves by Christmas 2020.

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

Curious what functionality you are missing on AppleTV when running iMacPro1,1 without the shikigva value? I run iMacPro1,1 without any shikigva value and AppleTV app seems to work fine, using RX560 as well.

Catalina 10.15.2 Update Lost HEVC/h265 Acceleration

Yes, able to stream TV+ just fine. @TurbineSeaplane my Videoproc hardware info says N/A as well, but seems to work fine.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I've been following the DRM thing on a few different threads and sites. It looks like those running Vega and newer are not having the issue. Those that are running Polaris RX 4xx-5xx cards seem to be most affected. DRM works in most places (sometimes requiring weg boot arguments) but you can get...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thank you for testing that, so it seems to be across the board when using iMac19,1. I checked a couple of my real mac laptops here at home and that app opens instantly on all of them. Wonder what happens on a real iMac19,1.

Catalina 10.15.2 Update Lost HEVC/h265 Acceleration

Thank you Lisa, that worked and my RX560 now has HEVC enabled! Now I think the only issue left is getting Prime/Netflix working on safari.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Has anyone noticed a long startup time for "Activity Monitor" app? When I'm running on iMac19,1, the app takes about 5 bounces before it opens. When I switch to iMacPro1,1, the app opens immediately. Granted I'm on a different board (Z390 Aorus Pro), but curious if this is also happening on...

Catalina 10.15.2 Update Lost HEVC/h265 Acceleration

I tried the HVECEnabler kext with my RX560, and I still don't get HEVC enabled on 10.15.2.

    [SUCCESS] blouse's "Hack Pro" :: i9-9900K + Z390 Aorus Pro + Vega 64 + TB3 + USB3 :: 100% working

Your geekbench scores look great assuming you are using Geekbench 5. They lowered the scores in the new version compared to geekbench 4. I get 1234/8011 on an i7 9700k.

Catalina - Safari Crashing on Video Issue

I'm basically in the same boat here. I get a hard freeze in safari/netflix with iMacPro1,1 and safari and running the latest weg (1.3.5) and lilu (1.4.0) with or without shikigva=16. I'm using an AMD Rx560. Also a side note to be careful when entering this boot arg as I see a lot of people...

Radeon RX 4XX/5XX standalone system, AMDRadeonX4250.kext (GVA support H264) does not support HEVC HW

I tried this on 10.15.1 with my rx560 and I still lock up on safari with Netflix/PrimeVideo.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Argh, just saw this reply after my last post. Updated to Lilu 1.3.6 (from 1.3.4) and it fixes the boot delay with the ig-platform. Thanks Casey!

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I'm seeing the same delay when I boot with the "AAPL,ig-platform-id 0300983E", Get about 30 seconds of black screen between verbose log and login. When I go back to "0300923E", then it boots quickly again. Maybe that is just how it has to be?

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

CaseySJ, the level of detail you have in this guide is amazing. I'm contemplating building a new hack and had a couple quick questions about this build: If this system is run solely on the iGPU (non-headless) with no dedicated Radeon GFX card, will these crashing issues with Final Cut and...

    MacMan's Build: ASUS TUF Z390-PRO GAMING - i9-9900K - Vega 64 - Updated for 10.14.6 and NVRAM Support

Thanks for putting this guide out. I'm going to be building a new system pretty soon and wanted to see if the couple issues in the original post have been ironed out yet - out of the box processor support by 10.14.5 and if NVRAM support is workable in the bios yet (and if that is recommended...

Change.org Apple publicly commit to work with Nvidia on drivers for Mac OS 10.14

I was surprised to see this issue brought up in something as big as Forbes - hopefully that puts on a little more pressure to get this worked out.

    [GUIDE] Sierra on the GA-Z170X-UD3

Clover Files should be the ones you download from the guide in this post. You will copy those to your clover installation folder (which will be on your EFI partition or USB, depending on where you are installing to). When you open your clover folder on the EFI partition, you should see a folder...

[Solved] .metadata_never_index can't be removed, preventing Spotlight from working in El Capitan

The fix is not in 4035, you need a later version which isn't publicly released yet. There is a link above to a 4045 version which should contain the fix (working for me).

    [GUIDE] Sierra on the GA-Z170X-UD3

I vaguely remember a problem similar to this many years ago and I think it was a result of the graphics card/driver. I see you are using a Radeon - you may want to try swapping out with something else to test if that is the issue.
