~Beginning builder: tricking my App Store, tricking my Mac

I DID NOT. I have not yet discovered a way to allow 32-bit Macintoshes to download 64-bit operating systems as I wanted. I had to get the help of an associate with a more recent Mac to get the operating system. Good luck.

iCloud, App Store, FaceTime, Messages - Unable to Authenticate

Agreed, I could use some clarification. Cybercap, did you delete all entries as part of the #8 process, or did you just do that alone?

iCloud, App Store, FaceTime, Messages - Unable to Authenticate

(Unfortunately, lack of those services is a real problem for me—some of my programs need updates badly and I intended to purchase SketchBook Pro 6…)

White screen Problem with GTX 680 after Multibeast

I have a ZOTAC GTX 680 card and I got the same screen. The computer would go to that screen unless I input "GraphicsEnabler=No" at the Chimera bootloader. To guarantee that I always load with "GraphicsEnabler=No," I went to MultiBeast 5.0.2 and chose Customization>Boot...

iCloud, App Store, FaceTime, Messages - Unable to Authenticate

Could you explain to me step by step what you did? I'm using the same card or a similar card. Did you start by removing your PCI Express Wi-Fi adapter from your build?

iCloud, App Store, FaceTime, Messages - Unable to Authenticate

I have tried the #8 method with no success. I still cannot use the App Store or iCloud, and presumably other services. I do not have an Ethernet hookup. I do not have any PCI Ethernet cards installed. I am using the Wi-Fi network here. I am connected via the TP-Link PCI Express Wi-Fi Adapter...

Monstrous gray screen of wasted value

So what you are saying is that my graphics card should be performing as expected and everything is as it should be?

Monstrous gray screen of wasted value

I built my machine using a GIGABYTE Z77X UP5 TH motherboard, Core i5-3570k processor and a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 graphics card. The computer goes from the bootloader to a vast, interminable, featureless grey screen unless I set "GraphicsEnabler=No" at the bootloader or in MultiBeast! Does...

~Beginning builder: 6GB/s SATA ports not working?

What are ways with which I can test my speed, to see if the problem affects me?

~Beginning builder: tricking my App Store, tricking my Mac

Of course, I'm not trying to install Mountain Lion on my old MacBook; I just want to get the installer so that I can use this method on a newly built computer.

Updates to iBoot + MultiBeast method re: Mountain Lion?

Considering that I may very well be unable to prepare a UniBeast install USB because of my problems with the App Store, I'm looking at the iBoot + Multibeast method to install Snow Leopard from my old Mac OS X Snow Leopard install discs. Unfortunately, the guide is rather old and I want to make...

~Beginning builder: tricking my App Store, tricking my Mac

Hey—don't patronize me. I just said I already Googled that. I am not trying to spoof my operating system version. I am trying to spoof my Mac model identifier. The App Store does not care about my operating system version. It cares about my model identifier, which I want to change from...

Well, thanks at least for helping me keep this thread near the top of the board so others might put forth suggestions.

Can't download Mountain Lion on my old mac, to use in my new mac

I have the same problem. My MacBook is hardware version "MacBook4,1" and it needs to be at least 5,1 in order for the App Store to let me download the Mountain Lion installer. How can we trick the App Store into thinking we have different hardware than we actually do?

~Beginning builder: tricking my App Store, tricking my Mac

I have tried Google. I have not found any information about how to trick the App Store into believing I have a later computer model than I actually have. Presumably the App Store reads a file somewhere with the Mac model identifier in it, but I cannot find any information about such a file.

~Beginning builder: tricking my App Store, tricking my Mac

I wish to take the first step and download the Mountain Lion installer from the App Store. I have an older MacBook, version MacBook4,1. When I try to buy the Mountain Lion installer in the App Store, it returns the warning "We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not...

~Beginning builder: the unusual dual boot/partition question

So to get what I want, which is a Windows 7-bootable SSD with only one partition that is selectable in Chimera, I must follow these steps: Finish the Mac OS X installation process on the 120GB SSD, and shut down. Plug in the 64GB SSD (Windows 7 target). Boot from the 120GB Mac OS X SSD, and...

~Beginning builder: the unusual dual boot/partition question

Okay, this I think I understand fully. So I'll use OS X Disk Utility to pre-format my 64GB SSD using a GUID partition table, with only one partition, titled "Windows 7 boot drive." Now, this next part might be stupid and demonstrate that I don't understand. I then have to choose a file...

~Beginning builder: 6GB/s SATA ports not working?

I am building my first computer and I have purchased my components. I chose the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5 TH motherboard, and it features three 6GB/s SATA ports. I intended to use those ports to connect my two SSDs and my HDD (SanDisk Extreme 120 GB SSD, Crucial m4 64 GB SSD and Seagate Barracuda...

~Beginning builder: the unusual dual boot/partition question

I have questions about the second and third paragraphs. First: I ordered the GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP5 TH motherboard, and it says that it has UEFI BIOS. Are you saying that if I allow Windows to install without interruption, Windows 7 may install the original EFI first generation, and that after...
