If you are into video editing, I would propose a GeForce GTX 570 or 580 rather than a GTX 6XX series GPU, as the older generation is MUCH faster at GPU computing tasks.
For 2000 pounds i guess you can already get a i7-3930K 6 core CPU which will drastically improve performance over a 4 core CPU...
Get a GTX 570 or 580 for good gaming and awesome GPU computing power or a GTX 670 or 680 for very good gaming and good GPU computing power. All work natively.
I don't necessarily think that the proposed build is what you had in mind.
You don't need a 600 W enthusiast PSU, an i7 or a 6870 GPU.
I would take the cheapst quad core i5, a case with a built in 350 W PSU and no dedicated GPU. Then you will have some money left for a small SSD.
As for the...
Hi midphase,
the easiest way to overclock your CPU is by raising the multiplier. This only affects the CPU clock speed. You've raised the base clock which also affects QPI and RAM speed. So you're overclocking the bus which connects the CPU and the Northbridge and your memory as well. I recon...
Are you sure that you want to run three 1080p Displays with a sub 250$ GPU?
That is a 6 MP resolution. I would recommend you a GTX 690 or GTX 680 SLI configuration for that kind of GPU load. But that is 1000 $ worth of graphic cards.
Sorry that I can't help you with your problems, but you are not the only one facing a flickering square in the upper left corner. However when I bootet my Hack yesterday, it was gone. The only thing I've changed was to install the new Cuda drivers. However I can't state whether this had anything...
I have two Samsung 830 SSDs and a Crucial M4 mSata (all 256 GB)
One 830 is in my MacMini, the other is my Hackintosh SSD, whereas the Crucial M4 is directly plugged into the mSata Port of my GA-Z77 UP5 TH mainboard. All work flawlessly.
The main reason were good reviews combined with good...
GTX 670...have you tried typing GraphicsEnabler=No at the Chimera boot screen? Might solve your problem. You also have to enable GraphicsEnabler=No in Multibeast.
If it doesn't work, try typing -x at the bootscreen.
My bad, you are right. I remember having problems with FAT32, but those were related to file sizes.
So to correct my question: Is there a way to format my disk to be able to share file sizes bigger than 4 GB?
I do a lot of video edditing with my GoPro and my DSLR where the size quickly exeeds 4...
Thanks a lot for the info. However, do you know a format which I can use to access a disk from both Win and OSX? If i format a disk in FAT32, Win can read and write and OSX can only read.
I got several drives in my Hackintosh:
2 SSDs (1 for OSX, 1 for Win 8)
and three HDDs.
Now I wanted to formate the HDDs via the ExFat format in order to use them both in Win and OSX. Unfortunately the ExFat disks are only recognized in OSX, so I have no possibilities to access data like my fotos...
Resources -> CustoMac -> TP-Link PCI Express Wifi Adapter (TL-WDN4800).
Plug and Play. Bought this on Friday and it worked immediately.
Gigabyte Wifi Card is unfortunately not working.
For SLI systems, get 750 W. For single GPU GTX670, 500 W is enough.
I am running a 4 GHz i7-3770k and a 1250 MHz Asus GTX680 on a 4 year old 550 W "Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro" PSU. Works absolutely fine.
I think about 95% buy too big PSUs for their systems which is uneffective in terms of cost...
1. You can enter the bootswitches when the red tonymac apple appears during booting. The screen also tells you that you can push any key to get boot options. Then simply type whatever you need, the command line automatically appears (e.g. GraphicsEnabler=No, or -x)
2. I don't know exactly what...
You want a six-core processor? Why not go for a i7 3930k? Runs at 3.2 GHz, is easily overclockable to 4.5 GHz and is based on the more advanced Sandy Bridge architecture. All for almost the same price. Your Xeon is a 2.5 year old processor, which in terms of computers is medieval.
Compare here...
I got the same build, only I got the Asus GTX 680 Top which has the best cooling system according to many reviews. Fast and quiet. No Thunderbolt Display here either.
System worked fine out of the box. Thunderbolt graphics only works for the HD4000, not the GTX 680. Lucid Virtu is Windows only.
The only thing that I would consider downgrading is the Motherboard. Maybe a UP3 would do.
If you use Final Cut stick with the i7 3770, because Final Cut utilizes every single percent of your CPU. Even the virtual cores.
