    Z790 Chipset & Raptor Lake

So this new hack is almost perfect. I've got Thunderbolt, Wifi6e, Bluetooth, ethernet(s), sleep, USB, icloud, 4K, 120hz, etc etc all working. The problem is my benchmark scores are awful (i forget the numbers, I'm in windows atm, but they are basically half of what they should be). Windows...

    Z790 Chipset & Raptor Lake

I'm back and I've built (just a few wrinkles left) a new Hackintosh! I actually went legit for a short while - parted out all of my old systems on ebay/local - and bought a new Mac Studio M2 Ultra (64GB, 1TB).. best configuration they carried in stores and I wasn't willing to wait 1.5 months for...

    Z790 Chipset & Raptor Lake

So I'm working from the ACQ113C info here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/gigabyte-z690-aero-g-i5-12600k-amd-rx-6800-xt.317179/post-2290160 My board looks like: IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PC00@0/AppleACPIPCI/RP01@1C/IOPP/XGBE@0 and PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1C,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0) My...

    Z790 Chipset & Raptor Lake

Really dumb question, how do I get my ACPI path? I've only done it in Windows (device manager makes it easy enough).

    Z790 Chipset & Raptor Lake

Tried sleep a second time... Screen turned off but the system ultimately never did (leds/fans/etc stayed on). Walked away for about 10 minutes, came back and no visible change, so hit a few keys to see if the screen would come back, came back fine. Not sure how asleep it actually was. I tend...

    Z790 Chipset & Raptor Lake

Nearly finished with my z790 Mac Studio 'alternative'.. Went all out on this guy. I was actively saving up for a real Mac Studio but my needed configuration would run about $6K, eventually I just said eff it and plunked everything down on this beast: Gigabyte Aorus Master Intel 13900K...

trying to fresh install from bootable USB, getting Disk Utility Error -69877: Couldn't Open Device when erasing SSD

Doing a deeper deeper dive into this, I think Apple has done something sneaky and changed the recovery installer starting with 12.3. Pretty sure it's not my config after all. Using an older Monterey recovery I have no problem nuking the Windows drive (I think the old one corresponds to 12.1...

    Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

I have no idea what the problem was but I’m back up and running now. I did a Diskpart clean on the Windows drive from a windows install key and now Disk Utility is working magic again. Once the Windows drive was nuked (leaving me OS-less) the other drives format just fine as well. Who knows…...

    Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

First post in this thread. I'm using the CaseySJ EFI edited for my setup. I am stuck and any help would be greatly appreciated. Basically, I'm completely rebuilding my hack to incorporate the Monterey 12.3 update (I clean installed Windows so I could do the PowerPlayTables thing - (not included...

trying to fresh install from bootable USB, getting Disk Utility Error -69877: Couldn't Open Device when erasing SSD

Doing a deeper dive into this.. I must have something wrong in my config but I'm not sure what. All of my drives (NVME and external USB, don't have any SATA) are Not Writable in Disk Utility. I've tried a DISKPART> attributes disk clear readonly just to make sure those aren't set, everything...

trying to fresh install from bootable USB, getting Disk Utility Error -69877: Couldn't Open Device when erasing SSD

Long story short, reinstalled Windows to do the steps to get the PowerPlayTables for my 6900XT for Monterey 12.3. Got that sorted fine so decided to make a clean reinstall of Monterey. Never had this error before and with googling I can't find any error references in regards to a hackintosh...

macOS 12.3 Update Causes Problems for 5700/6800/6900 Graphics Cards

Can confirm the Carswell patch works. Also, running Alder Lake here with no glitches. From the screen shots it looks kinda like memory corruption, you guys overclocking your GPUs?

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

I had the exact same issues. Everything starts fast, shortly after boot slows and eventually hard reboots. Did you have reboots at all? This isn't going to help much but what solved it for me was switching motherboards. I had an ASRock Extreme Wifi 6, eventually replaced it with the same board...

Apple Announces M1 Ultra CPU, Mac Studio and Studio Display

I just last week built a 12900k, 128GB DDR4, 6900XT (Parkville, MD Microcenter has the good Powercolor in stock, works A++ OOB), Aero G hack for $2800. 4 NVMEs I already had. I really wanted to wait for this Studio Mac, I've got way too much I need to do between now and the expected shipping...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Having the same freezing issue now on 2 different z690 systems using the provided EFI (v9) which is leading me to think there's something wrong in me making my configs. Can I ask in here or should I start a new thread?

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Anyone having any random reboot issues? No overclocking - mem or cpu.. Both times it has happened have been triggered by gpu usage in Safari afaict. Things will get slow and sluggish, and after about 60 seconds it just restarts.

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Ok, I am a colossal idiot. My hack was working totally perfectly. Boot into Windows; I wasn't paying attention in Diskpart, and I accidentally cleaned my OpenCore bootable USB drive (intended a different drive, duh me). Fortunately, I had backed up the SMBIOS/UUID/etc. info. So not the end of...
