Fermi cards with the GF108 & GF116 chipset. They work OOB for general use, but sleep/ display sleep and most fullscreen apps & games either freeze or exit to a blue/black screen. Examples: 430/450/520/530/550.
400 / 500 series No! Some Fermi chipsets are not supported anymore and you may find yourself posting in the hundredandplenty post thread of non-supported cards. Rather go the 600 series (Kepler) route - although way overpriced, they are known to be supported OOB. (660Ti) although cards with 2GB...
Oh man! You guys do not get it at all.:banghead: This does not 'fix' a thing! It breaks the Nvidia drivers completely. The Lion GeForce kext cannot work in Mountain Lion , as Apple have made a huge change to the way the Nvidia drivers operate. I have said this 3-4 times on this thread already...
Yep! The new USB3.0 'solution' in the latest Multibeast will break Sleep and did not even detect my NEC based chipset. Its the Caldigit driver edited by Mlydinesh - which is the most troublesome USB3.0 kext ever. (Or so they say)
The PHXCD kext (which is used in MultiBeast v4.x) is the LaCie...
Hey seemyvideoonyoutubetoseemycardisworkingperfectlywithnoproblems guy! You call re-writing the Nvidia drivers to support unsupported Fermi cards a 'tweak'! LOL. That is not the forte of Tonymac or anyone else on this board. There is a huge difference between simple kext edits /...
Pro's: It will give you a higher GeekBench score. Which will amaze your friends.
Cons: Unstable system if not done correctly. Prone to KernelPanics. May experience negative karma from or during an OS update. Costs extra for decent cooling (You are going to do it properly! No half...
Shame guy! Are these people ignoring your post?
You should be using imac12,1 or 12,2. Use Chameleon Wizard to create a new System Profile (or use one from MultiB). This will allow the AppleGraphicsPowerManagement kext to load and keep control of the video card's power management...
Suppose you are right. I had just spent like forever trying to help someone get sleep working after using MultiBeast. Only after he sent me a list of kexts listed by date craeted did I realise he had used the MultiBeast 5 USB3.0 solution. It never occured to him to mention it as he had also...
Know what you mean. I tested the USB3.0 solution in MultiBeast for my NEC/Renesas adaptor and cannot for the life of me figure out why that solution has replaced the modified Lacie PXHCD kext from previous versions of MB . Not only does it not work at all, but it also disables sleep...
550 Ti has a GF116 GPU. The NVidia drivers written for ML do not support the Fermi GF108 & GF116 GPUs. Apple seem to be more focused on the improved Kepler cards but have included support for GF110 & GF114 Fermi cards. I get what you mean about waiting for a fix. It's pointless. If someone had...
Pretty much it! Most times the OS is still running even though the display is frozen. On occasions, I have managed to minimize a game that caused the black screen by hitting F11 or F12. After maximizing the game again, it worked. But that ahs only happened 2 or 3 times. But wake from sleep...
Sorry to disappoint you guy, but if you had read my post earlier regarding the use of Lion kexts in ML, I pointed out that you can achieve all you have achieved in your post in ML by simply removing the ML Geforce.kext. It achieves exactly the same thing. Disables Nvidia Drivers completely...
There is nothing that can be included in MultiBeast to solve this issue. It is a driver issue which, as far as I can see, can only be solved by Apple or Nvidia - unless someone (I doubt from this community) can manually edit the drivers. Don't mean that in a bad way, just that this community is...
It seems that not all of us are experincing the full range of difficulties related to the cards on this thread. For example: I have had no problem switching my monitor off and on as needed - which I have to do as a result of the freeze I experience when coming out of display sleep mode. (Display...
I've only ever used Multibeast once. Did not like the way it did things I was not completely aware of or agreed with. Not disregarding the fact that Multibeast etc. is of invaluable use to most on this forum, I just prefer the old school method of doing it all myself. Created my own bootable USB...
NOT GOOD! http://netkas.org/?p=1195 Looks like there will not be graphic driver updates in the upcoming 10.8.1 update. Well not in the Beta anyway.
Trying to decide whether to go for the 640 or wait until the 650 is released and see if anyone can get that working since Kepler cards seem to be...
This problem has existed since ML DP1. No-one was able to fix it then either. We were all hoping the Nvidia drivers would have been fixed by the time the GM was released But sadly, no. There are many real Macs out there with the same issue. So Apple or Nvidia are going to have to come to the party.
