Big Sur is working perfect on Gigabyte Z77X-UP5TH, with NVMe boot and OpenCore (but only iGPU, no Nvidia card except GT 710). To get NVMe support look for the hacked BIOS.
Hi guys, just to let you know that my m720q works very well under Bug Sur 11.2 / OpenCore 6.6 / i5 9400T / WiFi / BT
Use settings for iMac19.1 Only trouble is screen not waking after sleep. Maybe just my monitor? Monitor off-on fixes it.
Sorry - that machine is out of my hands. Here is as I remember:
I did cheat! No need to reinstall OSX from scratch!! Nothing has to be reinstalled, you only have to make a new EFI folder.
I created an OpenCore EFI folder on a USB-stick and had it boot the "old" disk with Catalina 15.4
Once my...
Today I visited my friend and his Hackintosh, and did the switch form Clover to OpenCore. With @jonz tips and OpenCore Sanity Check it was flawless at first try! Thank you, all!
@jonz did you have to do alteration from default values for this mother board? Do you mind posting your config.plist and screenshot of ACPI and Kext folders?
@Stork OC might be in beta, but my experience is OC is way more stable (and better documented) than Clover.
I'm surprised this thread is still on Clover. OpenCore is really superior, and kind of easy, if you read the manual.

Try my BIOS settings and EFI folder. You will need to make changes for nVidia card. Honestly, you will have less trouble and a much better and up to date solution with an AMD RX 560 (or better) card on Catalina. I got mine for 40euros.
Please @Maddeen post any changes you have found? I have just got this board (but have not got time to look at it yet, but will install soon). I'm aiming at Catalina for a Photoshop workstation. In the spirit of 'things moving forward' I will try out with OC. All tips, updates and upgrades are...
Enable NVRAM - the easy way?
There is a newer Grub tool that seems to unlock MSR and let us keep this change as a BIOS setting. Look for Unlock MSR here. In short:
At the Grub prompt, enter:
Code: setup_var_3 0x5C1 0x0 (same as our Designare board)
Reboot into BIOS.
Save your BIOS settings...
Thanx, this worked very well for my old GA-Z77X-UD5H as well. Sound set-up is little different. Bios 16j makes it possible it boot to a NVMe disk. Incredible speed for this old board
10.15.1
I went from fresh install of 10.14.6 to 10.15.1 today. Started with 10.14.6 install from CaseySJ´s very first post, then Clover 5098, VirtualSMC and latest kexts. Update to Catalina went totally normal without any hick-ups or funny reboots, at Apple-scheduled time (or faster) with normal...
