Asus B85M-E/CSM — Some USB ports not working

I don't have one to share, as I never made an SSDT. I only have two working USB 3.0 ports myself.

Asus B85M-E/CSM — Some USB ports not working

No, I never got around to creating a custom SSDT. I just run two hubs to the active USB 2 ports in the back, and use the two active 3.0 ports in the back directly.

Nvidia Drivers for Mojave 10.14 Not Available, no WorkAround works well

Unplugging and re-plugging one of the affected monitors seems to fix the rotation issue... one of them even has a port saver on it as well, so no harm in doing that once per boot.

Nvidia Drivers for Mojave 10.14 Not Available, no WorkAround works well

Well, ended up getting the RX 580 after all. Installed lilu+whatevergreen to bring the bit depth back down from 30 to 24. BruceX times have a major improvement vs the 1060, as expected. Only issue so far is with monitor rotation. Two of my three monitors are rotated 90 degrees, and macOS gets...

Nvidia Drivers for Mojave 10.14 Not Available, no WorkAround works well

Just a heads up for folks: the officially-Apple-supported Sapphire Pulse RX 580 is currently on sale for $240 at Amazon and Newegg!

Nvidia Drivers for Mojave 10.14 Not Available, no WorkAround works well

$60 is a tempting price indeed, but the cheapest 560 refurb on ebay is currently $89... looks like you got a good deal!

Nvidia Drivers for Mojave 10.14 Not Available, no WorkAround works well

I do indeed dual-boot for games, maybe once a week. One of the nice benefits of hackintoshing is that I can just install a second SSD for Windows, instead of having to partition a singe drive with Boot Camp. Like pastrychef, I am thinking in terms of power consumption. The RX 580 draws more...

Nvidia Drivers for Mojave 10.14 Not Available, no WorkAround works well

I'm not exactly enthusiastic about the prospect of spending ~$240 (or ~$180 used) for an RX 580 that's roughly the same performance as my 1060, but with more heat and power consumption. Vega's out of my price range, and the cards tend to have 4 ports instead of 5. For now, I have no pressing...

Nvidia Drivers for Mojave 10.14 Not Available, no WorkAround works well

I tried two Accell MST hubs a while back... neither worked. Would it be possible to run the 6th display off of the iGPU if your CPU has one?

Apple Reveals macOS 10.14 Mojave at WWDC - Available Fall 2018

Kapn is correct, 10.14 will be the last release to support 32-bit apps — users will be shown a warning on launch for any 32-bit apps they open. 10.15 will remove 32-bit support entirely. Once this happens, it would be extremely difficult (if not impossible) for 32-bit support to be grafted...

Apple Reveals macOS 10.14 Mojave at WWDC - Available Fall 2018

The A10X in the iPad Pro is leaps and bounds faster than the Tegra X1 in the Switch. Times like this I wish Apple would sell their SoCs to other companies because an Apple chip would have been a much better fit for the Switch. Adobe will either stick with CUDA, or move to Vulkan and bundle the...

[GUIDE] How to encrypt your home with Filevault2 (the easy way)

After spending some time with this setup, I had to go back to a unified boot/data partition, mostly because iTunes was crashing — it didn't seem to like having the music library be on a volume that was different than the boot drive.

[GUIDE] How to encrypt your home with Filevault2 (the easy way)

One thing I learned already... don't set the home folder to the volume itself. There were some odd permission errors that I couldn't fix, but having a subfolder within the volume be my home folder is fine. Having a non-standard home folder location has been a feature for a long time (I remember...

Asus B85M-E/CSM — Some USB ports not working

Hello, I've got a i7-4790K in an Asus B85M-E/CSM and only 6 of the 12 USB ports are working (no 3rd party ports, all from the Intel chipset). The first 4 ports on the IO panel, as are the 2 USB ports from one of the 2.0 headers. Ports from the other USB 2.0 header, USB 3 header, and bottom 2...

    erik's "Tiny But Mighty" HTPC: ASRock Z370M-ITX/ac - i5-8400 - UHD 630 Graphics - High Sierra

erik, have you measured the power consumption of this build? I'm thinking about making something similar, but with a 90w picoPSU since I already have one. With the non-K chips having a 65w TDP, I'm wondering if the 90w picoPSU would do the job even when the CPU is in a turbo state. Edit: the...

Black Screen After Updating to 10.12.5

I've had this as well and what's worked consistently for me is making just the displays go to sleep and waking them up. Easiest way to do it is assign a hot corner to make the displays sleep, or use a script (I've attached an automator app that I access from Quicksilver).

Black Screen After Updating to 10.12.5

When I first rebooted after installing my 1060, I had to unplug/replug my monitors to get all of them to show up. Subsequent reboots are fine however.
