Confused by buyers guide... - Old Hackintosher back for round 3!

You’re not raining on anything . I’m really in 2 minds here. I’m not a power user anymore. Very unlikely I’ll be doing huge renders ever again. It’s going to be web browsing, accounts, a little video editing and gaming here and there. Here is where I’m at after a few days research: -Mac Mini...

Confused by buyers guide... - Old Hackintosher back for round 3!

Thank you for the reply sir. I missed those ssd’s I see them now. Re chipset - I want to go down the route of “as easy as possible”. I’m far too old to be pulling all nighters trying to get a USB port to work . So with this considered, 10th gen would be the best option right? Less messing...

    Am I just getting old?

I built my first hackintosh in 2011.It was easy! I built my second a few years ago. Still Fine I come back today, and reading through trying to update myself - it all seems a lot more complicated. Im having visions of me pulling my hair out for a week taking it work. Someone please tell me...

Confused by buyers guide... - Old Hackintosher back for round 3!

Hi! I was about to pull the trigger on an M2 Mac mini earlier. Base model seemed a great price. Then I realised SSD speed issues with 256Gb, and only 8GB of ram. After upgrading these, the price didnt seem too appealing anymore. So I can back here to see what I could build for the same money...

[GUIDE] Injection of AMD Vega Power and Fan Control Properties

Thanks Jay, plenty of great information there to get me moving forward. The only thing I may be missing is where to place: <key>PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)</key> <dict> </dict> ...in my config.plist given the absence of...

[GUIDE] Injection of AMD Vega Power and Fan Control Properties

OK, first issues..... -I cannot find the properties section in my config.plist (attached) -My GPU "does not have the GFX0 ACPI identity which is critical for correct operation" I have the most recent versions of Lilu + WhatEverGreen installed and I've checked that "Change XXXX to XXXX" is...

[GUIDE] Injection of AMD Vega Power and Fan Control Properties

Thank Jay. So I got HWMonitorSMC2 working fine. Interesting results...... I used LuxBall HDR for these tests as that seems to be what everybody is using in the benchmarking thread. Stress test begins: -As you said, around 53 degrees the fans activate (core clock - 1612MHZ, Fan speed 1482)...

[GUIDE] Injection of AMD Vega Power and Fan Control Properties

Perfect, thank you for the clarification Jay. So Nitro+ fan controler isn’t controlled by OS, but on the plus side the on board controller should be unaffected by by the OS and should therefore be working as intended. I have Luxmark. I’ll sort HWM tonight and report back. If you get a minute a...

[GUIDE] Injection of AMD Vega Power and Fan Control Properties

Hi @jaymonkey. I just wanted to check I’m walking down the correct path here before i start reading all 49 pages of this thread. With the need for Mojave’s I’ve finally been forced into an AMD GPU (Sapphire Vega 64 Nitro+ And 10.14.6 And whatevergreen/multibeast - Asus Z370-f). I believe the...

    Vega 64 Nitro + worries

Hi guys, Firstly, I have searched and searched for information on this. But I need to put me mind at rest. Ive just swapped out my 1070ti for a Sapphire Vega 64 Nitro+, because I need Mojave for work now. Ive completed a fresh install of Mojave 10.14.6 which all seems to be running fine...

Can we all clear up graphics card compatibility together please guys?

Fully aware. However, on my system, if I connected the 2 card in SLI (which Mac OS is supposed to ignore) I ran into problems. My reason for doing this is that, at the time, I wanted to utilise SLI under windows 10. It used to be a dual boot machine.

Can we all clear up graphics card compatibility together please guys?

Obviously depends on your other hardware. But those 2 components will definitely not cause any problems

Can we all clear up graphics card compatibility together please guys?

IMO - Nvidia/HS is pretty bullet proof. I have no problems whatsoever running a single card. From what I read, Vega64 'work' out of the box. But there are all sorts of fan control issues. Fans running high when idle, slowing down under load causing overheats and crashes. The fixes sound a bit...

    Graphics card recommendations please

Yh, you cannot use Nvidia with Mojave at the moment. Ive actually been thinking about making a change. From what I see see you have the following options: -If you want Mojave - you need an AMD GPU but you will more than likely have to do some fiddling if you want the fans to work correctly -If...

    Security Update 2018-003 High Sierra

Sorted mine guys. Im not sure exactly how, so I'll just write everything I did. Hopefully it will help you. -I rebooted numerous times (from install Mac OS in clover) as a few have suggested that eventually it sorts its self out. No luck -I tried working my way from left to right in the...
