    i7-3770K + GA-Z77X-UD5H Share your best practices

Hi all, Has anyone else noticed a not insignificant loss of performance when using later BIOS versions? When I use F14, I get a GB score of like 13,500, but when I go back to F7 or F8, I get my 14,500-14,700 again. This is an 8% loss, which I presume is going to compatibility for things I...

    Corrupt Gigabyte BIOS?

Not really. I'm still booting into the backup BIOS, which, contrary to what the manual says, seems to be able to be updated/modified. If I switch again to the main BIOS, it won't boot. =/

    Corrupt Gigabyte BIOS?

Hi all, I'm sporting the GA-Z77X-UD5H (seriously awesome mb!). I was making some changes in my BIOS to boot into a USB-Thumbdrive for a Linux distro, and, for some reason, when I rebooted the machine, the Gigabyte BIOS boot screen no longer displays. And, I no longer have the option to...

    ga-z77x-ud5h won't boot after in

I recently a similar problem with my GA-Z77X-UD5H, however, the root cause is very likely different. The issue that you have is one that you most definitely are going to need to know how to approach, because it will likely happen multiple times over the life or your machine as a result of an...

Apple 24" LED Cinema Display (Mini-DisplayPort) scrambled video on boot

I can confirm this does work. For anyone else coming along here looking for a solution to this issue, add: <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1920x1200x32</string> To your /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist file. Of course, use the natural resolution of your particular ACD.

[SOLVED] USB devices requires too much power error - WHEN NOTHING IS CONNECTED

OK, very strange. Recently after making some HW changes on my Hack and updating to the latest Multibeast, I started getting these errors: Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled. To prevent damaging your...

    Bootloader issues? MB v5.2.0

Hey guys, thanks for the help. Its a new day and having gotten some sleep, I approached this more methodically. I'm not precisely sure what broke or why, but I suspect that somewhere along the line, one of my Extensions had gotten corrupt but I didn't notice because I had a good boot cache...

    Bootloader issues? MB v5.2.0

Tried downgrading to MB 5.1.3 and selected all the options I normally require. Machine still is not booting without the '-x' boot flag. I wonder what has changed? And to think that I can't even get a fresh install on a fresh partition to boot makes me really puzzled.

    Bootloader issues? MB v5.2.0

Hi Neil, thanks for the suggestion. I've tried adding the boot flags "PCIRootUID=1" and "PCIRootUID=0" and in neither case was there any difference. =/

    Bootloader issues? MB v5.2.0

Hi all, I've been enjoying a slick Hack since July without much of an issue. However, today, I "upgraded" my bootloader using the new MB 5.2.0. Ever since doing so, I can only boot via Safe Mode. When I try to boot normally (actually with the boot flag -v), it seems to run complete through...

What's Your Favorite Text Editor? (Besides TextEdit)

TextMate has this. But Sublime Text 2 does this and raises the bar by allowing arbitrary multiple selections anywhere–and even a set of nifty shortcuts for creating them without your hands leaving the keyboard. This feature alone makes ST2 a rock star. Seriously folks, if you depend on an...

    New Fusion Drive

Hi all, I've been reading as much as I can on this topic: not only here at TonyMacX86, but also the Ars Technica article and of course the JollyJinx articles. During all this reading I've come to the conclusion that speculation about what CoreStorage is doing is often based on other...

    New Fusion Drive

I have a similar setup currently: Users is actually a mount-point for a larger 2T disk. Doing this is the most straightforward way to use the speed of the SSD to boost everyday actions, yet still have some room for stuff. However, this is not without issues. Namely, each User's Library...

    OS X 10.8.2 Update

In case anyone cares, I updated my GA-Z77-UD5H + i7-3770K via the App Store update to 10.8.2, no issues except I had to repatch my Audio with Toleda's Apple beta kexts. Took about 2 minutes in total.
