I now realize these are likely just rebadged 4.0 dongles, which is a pity since I'm more interested in range and signal durability to my speakers than bandwidth.
Hello!
I'm running Catalina on a MacBook 17 with a USB 3.0 card installed. I got things to work with this driver, but it doesn't load automatically:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/genericusbxhci/
After installing and disabling Gatekeeper, you have to run:
kextload...
I removed that driver and tried the generic one (which is how I got it to work in Yosemite way back in 2015):
https://sourceforge.net/projects/genericusbxhci/
I got the same symptoms so I took a peek in ioreg and it seems the device is attached to com.apple.driver.usb.AppleUSBXHCIPCI which I...
FYI trying to use this driver on a MacBook 17 using an expresscard adapter running Catalina (10.15.2):

it's just horribly horribly SLOOOOOOOW to the point it takes probably over an hour to mount a flash drive and 3-5 seconds per record to list a...
Jan 8 we'll hopefully know more, like which CPU options we'll have. Intel has their usual dizzying plethora of options:

Considering the thermal limitations I'm kinda hoping for the Core i7-1060G7.
I'm not holding my breath for an...

Audio out via 1/8" jack and hdmi, or have those issues been ironed out? Were you at least getting full resolution? Is there a photo of it running MacOS so I can gauge the control dimensions and anti-alias? I noticed some people don't like the default settings on the 16" MB.
(FWIW I'm not a...
I'm hoping some of the larger issues are solved by the time my 17 MacBook dies. Played around with one at CostCo briefly and the only thing I didn't like was the extreme glare. Gamut was ridiculously saturated but at least that can be fixed.
What about using pci-passthrough? Basically run Linux/KVM natively then Mac OS on a VM, passing through the dGPU to Mac OS. The iGPU would be run by the native Linux driver and could copy and display the frame buffer from the dGPU which is controlled by the MacOS driver.
Did you post a guide yet, or a review?
My aging 2011 MacBook 17 is in pretty bad shape. Dead Radeon, streaks and stage lights on screen, etc.
Unfortunately I have a RAID 0 SSD hard drive setup (1TB/sec speeds) and I don't think the ASUS has two bays :(
I'd just like to report success with the µPD720202 on Yosemite (bought on eBay).
I didn't flash, but used a file I found on the comments here:

Specifically this from "srhardy" (get it before this gdrive disappears. it disappeared once already)...
